Mental Health and Addictions  Mr. Speaker, there are right ways to go about things, and then there are explosive, dramatic and catastrophic ways to go about things. In talking about using the notwithstanding clause, the Leader of the Opposition's response was, “All of my proposals are constitutional, and we will make them constitutional using whatever tools the Constitution allows me to use to make them constitutional.

Democratic Institutions  That question is this: Which top Liberal broke the law by leaking classified CSIS information? In an explosive story, The Globe and Mail reported, based upon a top national security source, that during the 2019 election, the member for Don Valley North was tipped off that he was being monitored by CSIS.

Committees of the House  At the same committee, Craig Hood, the executive director of Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command for the Royal Canadian Legion, testified, “What I came across was some startling information on serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces being posted here: living rough in tents, living out of their vehicles, couch surfing, engaging in interpersonal relationships for the purposes of securing housing - which oftentimes puts them as victims to domestic violence.” This happened in December 2023, when this explosive testimony occurred in the Nova Scotia legislative committee, and what was really startling was that, when asked about this in the House of Commons, in response to a question from the member for Selkirk—Interlake—Eastman to address these allegations and to ask what was being done and why the government was failing our troops, this is what the minister had to say about that testimony: “Mr.

Nepean Nighthawks  Madam Speaker, the Nepean Nighthawks Field Hockey Club is dedicated to fostering a love for field hockey among youth. Field hockey in Ottawa stretches back to the 1950s. A recent explosion of participation in the Ottawa region began in 2007. Interestingly, unlike globally, 70% of Ottawa members are female. The Nepean Nighthawks’ vision includes fostering sport participation for life.

Transport committee  If they find a piece of equipment and they don't know what it is or how it works, they use that as an excuse to search you by hand, and, in my case, to ask me if I was carrying explosives. Other examples are, “Where do you work?” and, even better, “How much money do you make?” This is our reality. These are the kinds of things that we, as people with disabilities, face.

The Budget  In 2016, the Union des consommateur of Quebec made a written submission to the Standing Committee on Health on pharmacare. It said: The explosive rise in spending on prescription drugs in Canada requires immediate action...the most effective solution would be to adopt a universal public pharmacare program. We hope the federal government will act on this issue and assure you of our full cooperation.

As Kelowna was facing a catastrophic explosion of fire, the member for Kelowna—Lake Country was saying, “Do not worry. We are going to make burning fuel free. We are going to take the tax off.” The Conservative leader was asked about the industrial carbon tax.

Stopping Internet Sexual Exploitation Act  Madam Speaker, New Democrats support, as all parties do, tackling the important issues that the bill before us seeks to tackle. We also know that there has been an explosion of sexual exploitation of individuals online without their consent and an explosion of child pornography. What we have to do is find those measures that would be effective in bringing an end to these heinous practices.

Environment committee  Our current global situation takes us beyond the first stage of climate change impacts, that of more frequent and intense extreme weather events and changes in global precipitation patterns, to the second stage of climate impacts, which impact national security, increase intra- and interstate conflicts, and creates the spectre of an explosion in involuntary human migration that is already resulting in a rapid rise in climate refugees, for which the world is unprepared. Welcome to the future. If humanity fails to rein in emissions quickly and tightly enough, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change projects that one half to three quarters of the human population could routinely be exposed to life-threatening heat and humidity.

Finance committee  Of course, the Bank of Canada has also done its share to add to our current woes. As I testified previously before this committee, the pandemic saw explosive growth in the money supply as the central bank monetized fiscal deficits financed by sovereign debt or, in other words, quantitative easing. That is what gave us the inflation crisis and the now-cripplingly high interest rates that are making life impossibly difficult for many Canadians.

Battle of Vimy Ridge  At the same time, all of the available artillery, supported by underground mines packed with explosives, destroyed the German positions. The infantry, protected by the artillery barrage, rose up and charged toward the enemy trenches. For some, this battle represents the birth of Canada as a sovereign nation because, for the first time, all divisions of the Canadian Expeditionary Force came together to storm the heavily defended enemy ridge.

Softwood Lumber  The amount of U.S. structural lumber going into the U.S. has been going up steadily. That is why it is raising the tariffs. Over the last couple of years and the explosion in demand for construction materials, we are getting more of the pie for Canada than we did, say, even five years or six years ago. This is why American manufacturers in the lumber group are upset about it and looking for more duties to hit us hard.

Privilege  We have seen a number of instances of the Liberals on the committee covering up issues, usually supported by their NDP coalition partners. We can take, for example, the committee’s study on the government’s explosion in contracting with McKinsey, a company that drove the opioid crisis. During that study, the NDP-Liberal coalition members blocked Conservatives from getting these documents at committee for several months.
