Public Safety  Madam Speaker, it is an opportunity for me to rise today and build on a question I asked last week with regard to the illegal blockades and the ramifications they are having on Canada's economy, but certainly specific to Canadian agriculture. I want to reiterate that this is a critical situation.

Agriculture and Agri-Food  Mr. Speaker, the agriculture minister talks about rule and trade, but we cannot trade if we cannot move our product. The government is not even standing up for the laws right here in Canada. This is a crisis, and every day it goes on it hurts our farmers even more. The propane shortage right now is critical.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act  Mr. Speaker, it is a pleasure to speak to this important legislation. It is also important that we highlight some of the issues that go along with this piece of legislation. It is about empowering the RCMP and empowering the CBSA, which has been kind of an interesting topic over the last several weeks as we talk about empowering the RCMP.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, Canada's economic future must be in our own hands. The Liberal government cannot listen to a few out-of-touch elites who are intent on shutting down Canada's energy sector. A group of Noble Prize winners has written to the Prime Minister asking the Liberals to deny the Teck Frontier mine in Alberta.

Public Safety  Mr. Speaker, the illegal rail blockades are yet another blockade and another barrier for Canadian grain farmers, and the situation is a crisis. There are 19 ships off Prince Rupert and another 50 ships off the port of Vancouver, many of them waiting to be loaded with grain. Every week that the rails are blockaded with illegal blockades costs Canadian farmers $50 million.

Relations with Indigenous Peoples  Mr. Speaker, I want to be very clear with my colleague across the floor. Every, and I mean every, single other agriculture stakeholder that I have spoken with is extremely concerned with what is going on with these rail blockades. I do not want this to be about one sector of our economy or one people against another.

Relations with Indigenous Peoples  Mr. Speaker, I appreciate the question from my colleague, but there are suicides, bankruptcies, anxiety and mental health issues within the agricultural community as well. Why are we putting that aside as not an issue at all in favour of another part of the country, when the vast majority of the Wet’suwet’en community, the elected council, the elected chief, as well as the majority of the hereditary chiefs, all support the Coastal GasLink project?

Relations with Indigenous Peoples  Mr. Speaker, I do find that question ironic, which I am sure has come up over and over again during this debate. The Prime Minister had no problem directing the RCMP when it came to the SNC Lavalin investigation. He was pretty clear that Liberals did not want them to investigate this before, during or seemingly after the election.

Relations with Indigenous Peoples  Mr. Speaker, I will be sharing my time with the member for Vancouver Granville. I have heard many of the interventions this evening through this emergency debate and I want to bring a different perspective to this discussion tonight. I want to put this in context. About 20 years ago, a previous Liberal government actually arrested farmers and put them in jail for crossing the border and trying to sell their grain in the United States.

Health of Animals Act  moved for leave to introduce Bill C-205, An Act to amend the Health of Animals Act. Mr. Speaker, I am honoured to stand today and introduce this bill, which is seconded by my colleague, the member for Beauce. This bill addresses a critical issue, which is the securing of the biosecurity of our food supply, especially when there are trespassers on farm property and facilities.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, when my colleague talks about softwood lumber, agriculture or manufacturing, the difference between the previous Conservative government and the current government is that we kept all of our stakeholders at the table throughout the negotiations. What we are hearing from stakeholders over and over again is they have been left in the dark.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I would like my colleague to elaborate on something which he touched on. We have just heard that the United States has signed a free trade agreement with China, which will have a potentially devastating impact on Canadian agriculture. There may be as much as $40 billion in agricultural trade between those two countries, which will certainly have an impact on ours.

Agriculture and Agri-Food  Mr. Speaker, it has been trying because the Liberal policies are crushing Canadian agriculture. The previous Liberal agriculture minister said that farmers were fully supportive of the carbon tax. The current Liberal agriculture minister does not seem to really care. She has admitted she is not even collecting data on the carbon tax and how it impacts Canadian farmers.

Canada-United States-Mexico Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I completely disagree with my colleague across the floor, who is actually trying to rewrite history. The TPP agreement was ready to be signed on the eve of the 2015 election. The second the Prime Minister took office, he should have gone to the table and signed the agreement.

Canada-United States-Mexico Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, there are some concerns with the new NAFTA agreement when it comes to the dairy sector. There is no other agreement I can think of that Canada signed that has put a cap on the growth of an agricultural commodity, which the Liberals have done with dairy. There is now a quota on the export of products like skim milk powder and protein powder.
