Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, there are many social determinants that create the crime that we are seeing in our cities. During this pandemic, of course, things have become extremely exacerbated. Homelessness is on the rise. In my city of London, housing is out of reach. It is not affordable anymore.

Committees of the House  Madam Speaker, I am so grateful that our critic for small business and tourism was able to get that speech in, because he did cover a great deal. What I have heard a lot as the critic for status of women and from my local community is that the government has left behind those within that aviation sector and the tourism sector, and especially the women who are doing the bookings for travel.

Canada Revenue Agency  Madam Speaker, two weeks ago, I told the House about my constituent, Robert Major, who applied for the CERB in good faith because he was unable to work due to health issues. Robert was asked by the CRA to repay that money. Last week, the government finally relented and recognized its mistake in clawing back CERB for self-employed Canadians, but it still refuses to recognize its mistake in forcing people like Robert to pay back the CERB.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, I am not familiar with the member's bill or what he suggests to bring forward, but I would certainly be happy to study it, take a look at it and read far more about it to see how it could advocate for victims of human trafficking. What is key here, of course, is the money that goes with it.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, the member said the government provides huge amounts of money. That can be confused with the announcements and reannouncements, talks of task forces and studies upon studies. That means spending a lot of money, but it is certainly not going to long-term funding needed by organizations that provide on-the-ground services.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, I am sharing my time with my hon. colleague, the member for Winnipeg Centre. Before the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in Canada, things were already bleak for women fleeing violence and falling victim to human trafficking. Many have tagged women enduring violence as a shadow pandemic or a pandemic within a pandemic, but no matter what name we give it, the fact is that when a woman encounters violence in Canada and is not seen as a person to be respected and treated equally, but only as a commodity, which is every day, we are failing her.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, the hon. member and I sit on the status of women committee together, and I feel like we are doing some really good work there. I would love to build on a question that a colleague of the member had, in terms of choices for women. When women truly have choices, it means that they are brought out of poverty, they have affordable housing and they have social programs and structures around them.

Committees of the House  Mr. Speaker, in my riding in London, Ontario, human trafficking is a growing issue of concern for sure. However, one of the major providers of programs and supports for victims of trafficking had its funding cut. A previous government gave funding under a project-based funding model, and the current government did the same thing.

Canada Revenue Agency  Mr. Speaker, Robert Major is a 62-year-old mechanic in my riding. He was unable to work because of health issues during the pandemic. Like thousands of Canadians, Robert was asked by the CRA to repay the CERB money he received in good faith. Robert has worked for over 40 years, paid his taxes, paid into EI and yet he cannot get the help he needs.

Women and Gender Equality  Mr. Speaker, under the Liberals' pay equity regulations, which have been delayed again, Canadian women could be forced to wait until 2029 or longer to receive equal pay. This is after already waiting 50 years since the Royal Commission on the Status of Women called for it. Every year that passes is another year where the so-called feminist government participates in wage discrimination.

Women and Gender Equality  Madam Speaker, progress, change, equality and fairness are things slow and hard to achieve and maintain. Of course, women have achieved some progress, some equality and some fairness, but some certainly is not good enough. That is what it all comes down to: It is not enough. Until women achieve complete equality and we in this institution create laws and programs, and provide the leadership for that complete equality, we cannot stop.
