Environment committee  I understand. The next question is regarding noise. You mentioned that you couldn't listen to music. I think it was a comment in your presentation that you had difficulty listening to music because of the number of wells. What's the closest well that you had? You said it was near your house, and then you said it was about 300 metres.

Environment committee  I have a comment that's attributed to you. It says: I love the quiet, but after living in the vicinity of coal-bed methane development, I can’t even stand to listen to music. I fell in love with the big sky and the powerful spirit of the people in Alberta, and I can’t believe we powerful people, especially the farmers and ranchers, are allowing the rape and pillage that is taking place in Alberta.

Environment committee  The point made by Mr. Schwartz is that it's approximately two kilometres away. So yes, perhaps you would comment on the noise.

Environment committee  Yes, thank you, Chairman. The first question is for Ms. Ernst. You showed some pictures of your water. As long as they're just pictures, if you could pass them around the table, I'd find it interesting to see those pictures, if that would be okay. You began your presentation saying that you wanted your water back.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, the hon. member knows very well that the Competition Bureau has conducted six investigations since 1990. He also knows that the Competition Bureau already has the power under the Competition Act to investigate. The reason we are here today is to debate the price of gas and he knows full well that under the Liberal plan there would be dramatic increases in gas prices.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, the member said that the goal of the motion was to deal with the price of gas. Canadians are very concerned when they go to the pumps and see the high gas prices. However, the reality is that the Bloc members are trying to present themselves as being concerned about the high price of gas.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague, the member for Oshawa, for his hard work on the environment. He is doing a great job. I am pleased to rise in the House to participate in today's debate. The price of gasoline is a serious issue and an issue of great concern to Canadians from coast to coast.

Business of Supply  It is unbelievable. Of course, then there is the deputy Liberal leader who, during the leadership debate, called for a form of carbon tax that would push up the price of gasoline. Just a couple of months ago, the Liberals were praising a $100 billion carbon tax, which again would have increased the price of gasoline.

Environment committee  They're the same, other than that we're using the word “respecting” as opposed to “prohibiting”.
