Questions on the Order Paper  Mr. Speaker, with regard to part (a), the U.S. is an important economic partner for Canada. The Government of Canada has been monitoring the new U.S. administration’s tax policy plans as they emerge and analyzing the potential implications for Canada. Analysts in the tax policy branch at the Department of Finance have examined the tax proposals put forward during the 2016 presidential election campaign and by the House Republicans in a June 2016 tax plan, which relate to both business and personal income taxation.

Financial Institutions  Mr. Speaker, my thanks to my colleague for his question. Canadians deserve the strongest consumer protection legislation and fiscal plans. Our government expects all financial institutions to conform to the highest standards. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada is launching an investigation into the banks' sales practices.

Financial Institutions  0Mr. Speaker, Canadians deserve strong financial consumer protections that meet their needs. Our government expects that all financial institutions adhere to the highest standards when it comes to their consumer protection obligations. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada is launching an industry review of the matter of all sales of banks' practices.

Taxation  Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague for his question. Our government is committed to investing in the middle class, in people, and in the economy. It was this government that lowered taxes for the middle class. That is the first thing we did when we took power. We also increased taxes for the wealthy.

We have a very competitive tax environment compared to the United States and other OECD countries. People looking to invest in Canada also benefit from a very skilled and well-educated population.

Taxation  Mr. Speaker, I am honoured to rise in the House today to speak about the wonderful things our government has done. Since we formed government, in the past six months we have created over 220,000 full-time jobs. When we look at the unemployment rate, it has gone down from 7% to 6.6%.

Once again, we are going to keep investing in the economy to help the middle class and those in need. Here is some good news. According to the numbers that came out today, over 220,000 new jobs were created in Canada over the past six months.

Today we saw that our 16 months of work paid off with the creation of 220,000 new jobs in Canada, almost all of them full-time. Anyone can see that our plan is working. We will continue to make the necessary investments in budget 2017.

Taxation  Mr. Speaker, our government has made a commitment to helping seniors within this country. It is our government that reversed the age of retirement from 67 to 65. We have also put in place an increase in the guaranteed income supplement for low-income seniors, and we have made an increase of 10%.
