Fisheries committee  —and then in CPC-5 you indicated “(a) shall list the classes of activities that are eligible”.

Fisheries committee  Is that for Mr. Doherty?

Fisheries committee  My understanding is the two amendments are working together since, in CPC-2, you are defining what “eligible” means—

Fisheries committee  Our understanding was they work together because you're using the term that's defined. In essence, since the definition was negatived, CPC-5 would follow the definition because they go together. Unless you see differently, and you don't agree with me and say that “eligible” doesn't need to be defined, but then it may leave a void.

Fisheries committee  Just to make sure I understand what the French would look like, it would be: “d'un réseau national d'aires marines protégées”?

Fisheries committee  I have a question for Mr. Doherty, if I may. Since you want to change “protected areas” to “marine protected areas”, there's a heading just above that in the bill that says “Network of Protected Areas”, would you like to change that as well at the same time? It would be “Network of Marine Protected Areas”.

Fisheries committee  Then in French, again if I may, it would be “réseau national d'aires marines protégées”.

Indigenous and Northern Affairs committee  It was submitted to me this morning, just as I arrived at the meeting. I indicated to your assistant that it should have been submitted officially to the clerk of the committee, as the process is set out. We don't have a copy with us, so if we could have that we could make copies to distribute to the members.

Indigenous and Northern Affairs committee  There's still a requirement to have a written copy.

Public Safety committee  Where in paragraph 17(d) it says “by the Minister under section 45 or by regulation”, it's something that's going to be made by the use of a regulation or more, but it's the use of the regulation. In paragraph 17(e), under “subject to any regulations”, you have no choice other than to put an “s” there.

Public Safety committee  In fact, I am not sure that adds anything. The Interpretation Act, for example, defines what an act is. The usage of the word "act" implies that it refers to a Canadian act. This, generally speaking, is how that is understood. I do not think the clarification you suggest would add anything.
