Bill C-30 (39th Parliament, 1st Session) committee  Who can answer the question on “intensity-based” as opposed to “hard cap”? Which would be more stringent? I've been briefed—I'm not sure how long ago—and I heard the difference with intensity-based. I was quite impressed. I'm looking forward to a response here now, for enlightenment for those who are at this meeting and also because it's being televised.

Bill C-30 (39th Parliament, 1st Session) committee  Thank you, Chair. I thank each of you for being here this evening and staying until what is projected to be 9 p.m. There was a question by one of the members regarding the short-, medium-, and long-term targets, starting with the premise that they weren't in Bill C-30. Environment committee  Thank you, Chair. My understanding is that we will be providing names to the clerk now, but also within the next 24 hours. Maybe there could be international consideration, if there is another country or countries that have an environment commissioner—what's their structure and mandate—and use these as examples to consider.

Environment committee  Thank you, Chair. Mr. McGuinty, Mr. Cullen, and myself were asked this question on Friday, and we had a healthy dialogue as we debated the issue when we were being interviewed on CBC. The position of the government remains neutral on this. We would be open to considering this and open to hearing from witnesses.

Climate Change Accountability Act  Mr. Speaker, we are debating Bill C-377, the climate change accountability act. I would like to begin by saying that there are some aspects of this bill that are laudable. The purpose of the bill is to ensure that Canada contributes to the stabilization of greenhouse gas emissions and to prevent dangerous changes to the climate.
