Employment  Mr. Speaker, I am here this evening to give a response to the question that had been asked regarding employment, and I am going to continue forward. Our government has been implementing its bold plan to strengthening the middle class and those who are working hard to join it, actually, for ordinary Canadians.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, our government is committed to working with provinces and territories, and we have done so on many fronts, be it the Canada pension and the list goes on. For this situation, we ensured we consulted with provinces. We wanted to ensure they were the drivers in all of this, that they would determine where that money would be invested and how it could better help their provinces.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I always appreciate my colleague's interventions. Our government is committed to ensuring we help middle-class Canadians. We committed to do so in our platform as we formed government. We are continuing to move forward. We are the government that has put in place the guaranteed income supplement for low-income seniors.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, this member is saying that the environment and the economy go hand in hand. We cannot keep putting our heads in the sand about the issue of climate change. It is this government that is here to help middle-class Canadians and those who are most vulnerable. It is this government that has put in place the Canada child benefit program, which has helped hundreds of thousands of Canadians move out of poverty.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his question and the work he does on this file. To us, this is just the first step. We want to work with the provinces and territories. The revenues generated from carbon pricing will remain in the province or territory where they are generated.

They are the ones who decide to provide information. Their work is extremely professional and non-partisan, and they are the ones who make the final decision.

Our government is committed to creating a cleaner, more innovative economy that reduces emissions and protects our environment while creating good jobs for middle-class Canadians.

That is why we are committed to making investments that will lead to a cleaner, more innovative economy that will not only help us achieve our goal of reducing emissions but will create well-paying jobs for middle-class Canadians and those who are working hard to join them.

World Day of Social Justice  On this World Day of Social Justice, Mr. Speaker, it is my privilege to underscore Canada's commitment to the fundamental belief that all people across the world are equal in rights and dignity. Social justice is fundamental to peaceful coexistence. We help to advance social justice when we break down barriers related to gender, age, race, religion, culture, and disabilities.

Rouge National Urban Park Act  Madam Speaker, I have to agree with the member that Jasper is quite spectacular. I challenge you to come to my province of New Brunswick. My riding is Moncton—Riverview—Dieppe, and just outside of my riding I have two beautiful national parks. I challenge you to come down and visit.

Taxation  Madam Speaker, I once again thank my colleague for his question. Canada has a very competitive business environment. Compared to other areas in other OECD countries, we have a competitive corporate tax rate. Businesses that invest in Canada also benefit from a highly skilled and highly educated workforce.

Taxation  Madam Speaker, I would like to remind the member opposite that our government has made a commitment to help the middle class and those working hard to join it. Also, I would like to remind the member opposite that it is this party that has actually lowered taxes for middle-income Canadians.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, our government is making careful and necessary investments to ensure sustainable economic growth, in order to benefit the middle class and those working hard to join it. Our approach has been recognized around the world, by the IMF, among others. We must ensure that the benefits of growth are shared on a large scale.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, I want to once again thank my hon. colleague for his comments. The government has been working hard for over a year now to make real changes for Canadians. A lot of initial progress was made during that time, but we still have a lot of work to do. The global economy is changing and the rate of change is ramping up.

Taxation  Mr. Speaker, I want to thank my colleague for the question. It is our government that committed to helping the middle class and those working hard to join it. It is our government that lowered taxes for the middle class. It is that government who voted against that. It is our government that introduced the Canada child benefit.
