Canada Business Corporations Act  Mr. Speaker, that was a long question, and I will be as brief as possible. Of course, we want diversity as much as possible on any board, whether it be corporate, here in Parliament, or on the EDA. I am proud to say that I have a large number of women serving on my EDA. My vice-president is female.

Canada Business Corporations Act  Mr. Speaker, of course, we support on this side anything we can do to help small businesses thrive and create an environment that breeds private sector growth and success. I think we all recognize that in order to invest in the priorities of any government, taxes have to come from somewhere, and in most cases, that is from small business, whether it be the taxes they pay or the taxes of their employees.

Canada Business Corporations Act  Mr. Speaker, of course, as the member mentioned, it is jobs, jobs, jobs. A lot of my community is built on small business. We have manufacturing. We have tourism. We have agriculture. All of it needs the help of small business. All of it needs trade deals. All of it needs access to market.

Canada Business Corporations Act  Mr. Speaker, I will be splitting my time with my colleague from Sarnia—Lambton. I would like to thank my colleague from Haldimand—Norfolk for leading the official opposition and being our critic on the issue. She is doing a great job and we appreciate everything she has done. Bill C-25 is an act to amend the Canada Business Corporations Act, the Canada Cooperatives Act, the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, and the Competition Act.

Petitions  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to present a petition signed by Canadians from my neighbouring riding of Peterborough. The petitioners are concerned about the accessibility and impact of violent and degrading sexually explicit material online and its impact on public health, especially the well-being of women and girls.

Public Safety  Mr. Speaker, I recently toured the Central East Correctional Centre in Lindsay. This provincial maximum security institution is being used as a so-called temporary holding facility for federal immigration detainees. Officers are dealing with challenges that are beyond their scope—language barriers, dietary complications, a lack of proper holding areas—with very little support from CBSA.

Haliburton—Kawartha Lakes—Brock  Mr. Speaker, it has been a very exciting few weeks my riding. Today, I am proud to recognize and congratulate a number of constituents and organizations, doing some outstanding work. Rhonda Barnet, from Steelworks Design Inc. in Cavan Monaghan, was elected chair of the Canadian Association of Manufacturers and Exporters, and she is the first female chair of the organization.

Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 2  Under their tax plan, Madam Speaker, I am not sure there will be many businesses left. In my riding, and I think also in the riding of the member for Winnipeg North, the average income is not extremely high. Anyone making less than $45,000 gets absolutely zero from their tax plan.

Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 2  Madam Speaker, I appreciate the work of my friend across the way on the procedure and House affairs committee. I do appreciate the back and forth we are having. I could also ask if raising taxes to 100% would cause prosperity, because we can see what is going on. I think what we need to have are reasonable taxes and to keep taxes lower.

Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 2  Mr. Speaker, I rise today to speak to Bill C-29, the budget implementation act of 2016, no. 2. I would like to begin by thanking my colleague, the hon. member for Louis-Saint-Laurent, for leading Canada's official opposition on the finance portfolio. I would also like to take the time to thank my colleagues who have spoken about this important topic for their informative speeches on this important bill, which we, on this side of the House, think would negatively affect Canadians from coast to coast to coast.
