Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I look forward to working with the hon. member on the justice committee. I would wholeheartedly join any activity such as he has suggested to work with our provincial counterparts and have this type of legislation enacted specifically in our home province of Ontario.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, this puts me in a bit of an awkward position speaking for the government. I am not sure how comfortable the government feels about that. I certainly feel a bit of discomfort here. However, I understand that there is already much education and resources available.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I agree that this type of training, specifically with respect to the Parole Board but more generally as well, is needed throughout the government. As we have continuing instances, there appears, I dare say, to be a pattern of insensitivity toward the victims of sexual violence.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I would like to inform the House that I will take the unusual step of sharing my time in this early round. I believe all the parties have been surveyed and all are on board. I wish to seek unanimous consent to split my time with the member for Calgary Skyview.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I am sure the House will be thankful for that. I am a proud member of the Law Society, and because of that, part of the justice system. The justice system is supposed to be a safe place for victims of sexual assault. However, our justice system has had a checkered history in fairly weighing the rights of the victims versus those of the accused in sexual assault cases.

Agriculture and Agri-food  Mr. Speaker, dairy processor Saputo is laying off 280 workers, including at a plant in Trenton right next to my riding. This comes after the Liberal government injected millions of dollars into this company. Saputo is a billion-dollar company. It is hardly the family-run business the Minister of Agriculture said the government would help.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I thank the member for his support for Canada's sovereignty. I would ask the member if he believes that it would be helpful to hear from the other side about the economic impact that the agreement will have on the dairy industry, and in addition hear the actual details of the package that the Liberal government may be giving to those in the dairy industry in compensation for the loss of their quota.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, this morning, the Parliamentary Budget Office released its review of the carbon tax. We have heard from Canadians across our country that the carbon tax is making life more difficult for Canadians. Farmers are particularly struggling, as they have faced additional headwinds, including trade disruption, a wet spring and global pricing instability.

Canada-United States-Mexico Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, to be clear, I think all Canadians produce the best milk in Canada, including the great province of Manitoba. I would also like to thank the hon. member, in the spirit of good, honest humour here, for the way he rails against brevity. We certainly appreciate that.

Canada-United States-Mexico Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I think it is fair to say that Canadians want to support Canadian business and that we continue to support the supply management sector. I look forward to having further discussions. These are the types of discussions we need to have across the aisle. We want to be brought into these negotiations.

We will continue to do so. I am here every day to represent the farmers of Northumberland—Peterborough South and the farmers of Quebec, who produce the best milk in the world.

Canada-United States-Mexico Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I rise today to talk about NAFTA, but first I would like to thank the hon. Speaker for the opportunity of a lifetime earlier, having sat in the chair with some of the most important people in Canadian history. Conservatives are the party of free trade. There can be absolutely no doubt about that.
