COVID-19 Emergency Response  Mr. Speaker, of course, on July 31, as the minister said yesterday, we disclosed supplier names and contract values for contracts that Canada has entered into for PPE and medical equipment, except certain commodities that have proven difficult to obtain and where additional procurements may be needed; hence, the national security exemption.

Sixth Link Between Quebec and Ontario  Mr. Speaker, the National Capital Commission has released the long awaited update to the studies exploring locations for a sixth interprovincial link between Gatineau and Ottawa. This update confirms what we already found. We are therefore one step closer to project construction, and we are sure that the project will meet current needs and address future challenges.

COVID-19 Pandemic  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. He talked about the conditions that allow us to help Canadians through income support measures, measures for businesses and so forth. Another thing this crisis has highlighted is the success of the Canadian federation and the collaboration that has come out of that.

Shootings in Nova Scotia  Mr. Speaker, as a son of the Maritimes it is hard to imagine the unspeakable horror that is coursing through the small communities of Nova Scotia today. I would like to finish by reading the following statement on behalf of my colleague, the member for Cumberland—Colchester. “In the early hours of April 19th, 2020, Cumberland—Colchester woke up to find a devastating tragedy had played out in our peaceful little corner of the world, in northern Nova Scotia.

Front-line Workers  Mr. Speaker, on behalf of my hon. colleague, the member for Alfred-Pellan, I want to express the gratitude and appreciation of all Canadians for our front-line workers and all those who deliver our essential services. Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, health care workers, paramedics, firefighters, police officers, truckers, bus drivers, farmers, grocery store, pharmacy and restaurant staff, day care workers, volunteers and so many other essential workers are our infantry in the fight against COVID-19.

Proceedings of the House and Committees  Madam Speaker, I thank the leader of the Bloc Québécois for his speech. I am going to change the subject. Let us talk about essential services. We know about health care professionals and all those in civil society who are getting up every day and going to work. I represent many federal public service employees, including employees from Public Services and Procurement Canada, the department for which I am the parliamentary secretary.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Mr. Speaker, very simply, obviously we on this side of the House believe strongly in the agreement that has been forged with our partners and allies. I note the concerns raised by my hon. colleague and I will simply ask her a question. If she is that concerned about it, why is voting for the agreement?

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Mr. Speaker, I want to add my voice to those of all members of the House who praised my hon. colleague, the member for Humber River—Black Creek, for her profound commitment and diligence when serving as chair of the Standing Committee on International Trade. In her view, how does the North American trade agreement contribute to Canada's stability, especially in these uncertain economic times?

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I listened carefully to my colleague. I would like to offer a bit of a history lesson. We did indeed go through a financial crisis in 2008. The Conservative Party's response, praised in my colleague's speech, consisted of making cuts, dismissing public servants, and then making even more cuts.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I listened carefully to my hon. colleague's speech. The Bloc Québécois doomsayers are out in full force today. What the member failed to mention is the tens of millions of dollars that have been given to parents in ridings across Quebec to help with the cost of child rearing; the unemployment rate of 4.5%, the lowest it has been in the members's lifetime; and the nearly 300,000 jobs that have been created in Quebec since we took office.

Neil Peart  Mr. Speaker, on January 7, Canada and music lost a virtuoso, legend and hero to millions of air drummers the world over. Neil Peart, drummer and lyricist for Rush, succumbed to glioblastoma after a three and a half year fight and tragically only four and a half years after Rush's final concert.

Privacy  Madam Speaker, I think the member took a few liberties with my answer. Suffice to say we are very interested in finding innovative solutions. We are not, of course, asking the people of Campobello Island to solve this on their own. That is patently false. We are interested in solutions, as the McKenna government did, for example, in building the Grand Manan ferry, or as our other provincial governments did that went and found sustainable transportation solutions of their own.
