Government Response to COVID-19 Pandemic  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague from Richmond—Arthabaska for his contribution to the important debate we are having this evening. Two things really stood out for me. First, he basically talked about vaccines. Not only has the Liberals' lack of transparency caused delays, but today it was confirmed that we paid more for vaccines.

Government Response to COVID-19 Pandemic  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech and especially for requesting this important debate on the third wave. We are all tired of the pandemic. I want to look back in time. The member talked a lot about the importance of learning from other countries, and I know some countries have done a better of job of controlling their borders.

The Budget  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. I am pleased to be able to ask him a question. How could this member from Quebec ignore the requests of Quebec seniors? I would invite him to tour around Quebec. Perhaps he has already done so because he told us that he had solicited people's opinions.

The Budget  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his passionate speech. I get the feeling that he still has a lot to say on the matter, but I would like to come back to help for workers. In his speech, he talked about the wage subsidy. Obviously this affects some sectors more than others, including tourism and culture, and they are the sectors that fuel our local economies.

The Budget  Madam Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague for his speech. He spoke at length about the importance of investing in health in order to get out of the crisis. The government may have announced that it wants to make stable, predictable health transfers, but that does not mean that it is prepared to commit to giving the provinces what they want, which is to increase the Canada health transfer to 35%.

The Budget  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech, but I would now invite her to look Quebec seniors aged 65 to 74 in the eye and tell them that they have gotten enough support from the federal government and that they are not vulnerable enough to receive help in the next budget.

Budget  Mr. Speaker, seniors can see right through the government's budget tactics. They want a permanent old age pension increase starting at 65. Ottawa is offering a single vote-seeking $500 payment, and that is only for those 75 and over. It is clear to seniors that the federal government is dividing them into two age-based classes and that it is once again postponing pension increases indefinitely.

Budget  Mr. Speaker, seniors will not be fooled. They realize that, by sending a one-time cheque this summer for $500, the government is trying to buy votes rather than increase pensions for all seniors. After everything they have been though during the pandemic, they thought the federal government got it.

United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech on Bill C-15. I am trying to understand. Many bills have been introduced in the past on this matter. My colleague applauded the work of Romeo Saganash, who advocated for the recognition of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his presentation. Some people will argue that implementing UNDRIP would effectively give first nations a veto over every natural resource development project. I would like to hear my colleague explain why that is not the case and how Bill C-15 would still allow for proper negotiation.

United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague from Peace River—Westlock. I have the opportunity to work alongside him on the important issue of modern slavery and human trafficking. We are very passionate about this. The Standing Committee on the Status of Women is calling for the implementation of the recommendations of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech. She talked about the problems indigenous communities are facing and access to safe drinking water on different reserves. Does she not believe that adopting this program could help foster reconciliation? In Quebec, the Viens commission recommended that the declaration be adopted.

Sex-Selective Abortion Act  Madam Speaker, it is with a heavy heart that I rise today to speak to Bill C-233. The Bloc Québécois is obviously against the bill, which is essentially an anti-choice bill. The Bloc Québécois unequivocally defends the right of women to control their own bodies, their right to free choice and their right to free and accessible abortions.

Sex-Selective Abortion Act  Madam Speaker, polls that are taken out of context are not useful. The member said that 84% of Canadians are against sex-selective abortions. This is not a news flash, since no one supports sex-selective abortions. Does that mean that 84% of Canadians are in favour of chipping away at abortion rights and going as far as passing a law?

Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2020  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his presentation on Bill C-14. My colleague spoke at length about resilience. If there is one area that has been very resilient it is health care. Everyone who has worked hard to take care of COVID-19 victims has shown resilience. Therefore I say kudos to all those working in health care.
