Postal Services Resumption and Continuation Act  Mr. Speaker, I have a lot of respect for the member. We serve on the HUMA committee together, and he is quite engaged when we have discussions at committee. I hope his intervention today shows a change in the attitude of the Liberal government when it comes to its approach to small businesses.

Postal Services Resumption and Continuation Act  Mr. Speaker, I am not questioning, and nowhere in my intervention did I question, the importance of collective bargaining. I am not saying that the process should not be going on, but it has been going on since January. There is no question that the Liberals could have taken action much sooner.

Postal Services Resumption and Continuation Act  Mr. Speaker, my colleague is exactly right. The Liberals are not taking responsibility for the consequences of their actions. The member hit on a very important point. We are talking about the crisis that small businesses are facing, but this is yet another cut in what has been death by a thousand cuts under the Liberal government.

Postal Services Resumption and Continuation Act  Mr. Speaker, it is great to finally hear some fire out of the New Democratic Party, which is reintroducing itself to Canadians after months of no-shows. This is great to see. Not once did I say that we do not appreciate what postal workers do, but let us be clear. There are Canadians across the country who are working outside in this weather, whether postal workers, energy workers, oil and gas workers, farmers or ranchers.

Postal Services Resumption and Continuation Act  Mr. Speaker, my hon. colleague just highlighted the reason we are in this situation. It all comes down to hope. We really hope that the best of this will come forward. We are just going to stand back and hope that these two groups resolve this problem. The Liberals have failed to take responsibility for a situation that has arisen under their government.

Postal Services Resumption and Continuation Act  Mr. Speaker, I appreciate the question. No one questions the dedication and commitment of our postal workers. Walking around yesterday was proof enough of what they have to endure. There is also the greater good. When we have small businesses across the country losing thousands of dollars a month because of a work stoppage or a rotating work stoppage, that is something that needs to be addressed.

Postal Services Resumption and Continuation Act  Mr. Speaker, I rise today to speak to this motion. We have certainly heard from both sides of the floor different points of view. However, my NDP colleague put it quite profoundly. She took my opening line about talking through both sides of their mouths. In the minister's presentation today, we heard the reasons for tabling this motion on back-to-work legislation for Canada Post.

Postal Services Resumption and Continuation Act  Mr. Speaker, I find it a little ironic that when the Conservatives were in government in 2011, we brought forward back-to-work legislation on Canada Post and the Liberals were extremely critical of that move. The minister has said that today the situation is a crisis for many small business owners.

Accessible Canada Act  Mr. Speaker, I appreciate the opportunity to ask the minister questions about Bill C-81. First, I appreciate very much the minister bringing this legislation forward. I think it is a very important document and is something we worked very hard on at committee. However, what I want to focus on is that almost every single stakeholder who came to committee said that Bill C-81 would do nothing.

Budget Implementation Act, 2018, No. 2  Madam Speaker, I do not appreciate my colleague's comments, somehow equating what happened in World War II to what is going on now with the carbon tax. It is absolutely unbelievable and one of the most incredible arguments I have ever heard in the House. My colleague talked about his riding having floods and droughts.

Budget Implementation Act, 2018, No. 2  You're comparing World War II to a carbon tax? You should be ashamed of yourself.

Corrections and Conditional Release Act  Madam Speaker, the minister talked a lot about safety and making sure that criminals feel better about themselves. I do not think solitary confinement is about ensuring that the worst of the worst feel better about themselves. I would like the member's opinion on what we should be focusing on when it comes to incarceration of the most vicious criminals in Canada.

Corrections and Conditional Release Act  Madam Speaker, the minister spoke quite a bit in her speech about the importance of safety. However, an aspect of segregation and solitary confinement is safety, the safety of not only the inmate who is the target of other inmates but the safety of inmates who may be at risk from the inmate who is to be segregated.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, today the Liberals unveiled their job-killing carbon tax scheme. It is an attempt to buy votes, and Canadians are not buying. The Liberal tax grab will make everything more expensive, especially for those families that can afford it the least. This is Liberal math at its finest.

Canada Labour Code  Madam Speaker, I think it is clear that all parties are going to support Bill C-65. It is an important step forward. However, the communication that goes around Bill C-65 is also important when we are sending a message to Canadians that we are taking a leadership role. When it comes to addressing harassment and sexual harassment in the workplace, it is also important that we tell Canadians that there is a level playing field, that every single Canadian, no matter who they are, whether a cabinet minister, a prime minister, or a supervisor in a workplace, will be treated the same as everyone else.
