Points of Order  Madam Speaker, I am a member of the Standing Committee on Official Languages, and we must never receive a text that is not exactly the same in both languages. That is exactly what we are talking about in this debate. The two texts do not match and do not mean the same thing in the two languages.

Violence Against Women  Mr. Speaker, although 29 years have passed since the École Polytechnique tragedy in Montreal that claimed the lives of 14 young women and seriously injured 10 others, we will always grieve the dreadful afternoon of December 6, 1989. Sadly, even though 29 years have passed since that awful tragedy, girls and women are still being killed just because they are female.

Social Development  Mr. Speaker, once again, the Prime Minister has been called out for his disparaging remarks. He said that the mass arrival of male workers in Canada's rural areas would have a negative social impact. For several years now, seasonal workers have been travelling to regional areas every year; they keep the economy going and no one complains.

Holiday Season  Mr. Speaker, in this time of celebration, I would like to take a few moments to wish everyone in my wonderful riding of Beauport—Côte-de-Beaupré—Île d'Orléans—Charlevoix happy holidays. In our busy lives, we often forget to take the time to live in the moment and enjoy the time we spend with loved ones, telling ourselves that we will celebrate in the new year.

Questions Passed as Orders for Returns  With regard to government expenditures in relation to the 2018 re-election bid of Michaëlle Jean as the Secretary General of the International Organisation of la Francophonie: what is the total of all related expenditures, broken down by type of expense?

French Services in Ontario  Mr. Speaker, for over a week now, the Minister of La Francophonie has been playing petty politics at the expense of Ontarians by attacking us, the members on this side of the House. I have plenty of evidence to prove that she misled the House by saying that my leader has done nothing.

Official Languages  Mr. Speaker, I am very pleased to see that we all want to defend Franco-Ontarians. The partisan games on the backs of Franco-Ontarians have to stop here and now. This morning, the leader of the official opposition sent a letter to the Prime Minister requesting an urgent meeting to talk about this file.

The Environment  Mr. Speaker, I would like the Minister of La Francophonie to apologize to the House. Many people in the House have spoken out: our leader, Andrew Scheer, the leader—

Infrastructure  Mr. Speaker, let us talk about Mr. Guilbeault. Everyone in the Quebec City area, including the premier, is in favour of the third link. Is the party opposite afraid to stand up and tell the Premier of Quebec that it is against the third link?

Foreign Affairs  Mr. Speaker, I would like the Minister of La Francophonie to apologize and to say that this side of the House is not attacking francophones. I have been on the Standing Committee on Official Languages for years, and I stand up for—

Privacy  Mr. Speaker, in light of the minister's comments, it might be time to pull the plug on this project. Canadians are very worried. They are worried about having the government digging around in their private financial information without their consent. This is an intrusion—an intrusion into their private lives.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague opposite. There has been some progress with respect to conjugal violence, but too many people are still being victimized by their intimate partners. To me, the worst thing is the lack of support for these men and women. Some women are violent toward their partner.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague from the Quebec City region. I come from a prison background. Let me assure my colleagues that I did not spend any time in jail. My father was a prison warden and my mother was a correctional officer. My aunt was a correctional officer. My grandfather was a police chief and my cousins are police officers.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his question. He is quite right. In my opinion, Bill C-75 does not go far enough. It makes some strides, but only small ones. It is time for all Canadian governments at all levels to put themselves in the shoes of victims of crime, who have to deal with criminals day after day with no way to protect themselves.
