Bills of Exchange Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. I understand that many things have to be put in place to ensure that we have true reconciliation, especially funding for housing and drinking water and the public education component. However, I would like my colleague to comment on measures of empowerment that could be taken.

Quebec  Madam Speaker, 25 years ago Quebec came within a hair's breadth of becoming independent in the 1995 referendum. It will not take another 25 years for Quebec to make the obvious decision to take total control of its destiny. Let us seize the opportunity to point out that what our adversaries would like to see die is tenacious, whether it is the very idea of independence that continues to inspire one third of youth, or political vehicles like the Bloc Québécois, which many thought was dead and buried, not so long ago.

Bills of Exchange Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. I hear him talking about the importance of education, the many benefits of learning more about indigenous culture, and the duty to remember. I also hear him talking about the process in committee, where amendments can be proposed.

Bills of Exchange Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for her colourful and vibrant speech, as is typical of her. I would like to hear a little more about these personal stories, like that of her grandfather. These are beautiful stories that help us reconcile, even just a tiny bit. I would like to know whether creating a special day like the one we are discussing will make it easier to share more of these beautiful stories, which are also part of the path to reconciliation.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship  Mr. Speaker, we fully support this, but we are simply asking the government to show the same kind of dedication to the guardian angels as they have shown to Quebec's seniors. We are concerned because, even before COVID-19, Ottawa was taking years to process immigration requests.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship  Mr. Speaker, the Bloc Québécois is deeply grateful to the guardian angels who are saving lives in our long-term care facilities. Among them are hundreds of refugee protection claimants who have risked their lives for Quebec's seniors. The Bloc Québécois supports the will of the government and that of Quebec to grant them permanent resident status for exceptional services rendered.

Bills of Exchange Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. I would like him to comment further on something he touched on earlier, which is the fact that this statutory holiday must not be just another day off. It is meant to be an opportunity to fulfill our duty to commemorate and educate.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, never mind changing the composition of a committee, I am surprised that this is the first time I am being asked questions about the content of the motion. The Liberals are so opposed to this motion that they did not stop to think about how it could be improved and made acceptable to all members of the House.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for her excellent question. That does indeed reveal just how much the government has been talking out of both sides of its mouth since the beginning of the pandemic. The Liberals keep telling us that it is important and a priority for them to do what Canadians want, in other words focus on managing the crisis, but the first thing they did was prorogue Parliament, before threatening to close it for good and call a general election.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I think that this trust has unfortunately been broken. It happened with every scandal that popped up like mushrooms over the summer, and we expect to see others. Although we may not re-establish this trust, we can at least ensure that there will be no other such problems in the future.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, the Liberals are saying that, right now, it is important to address COVID-19-related issues, and that that is what Canadians and Quebeckers are calling for. They are also saying that, in the interest of time, we need to give priority to managing the crisis rather than to creating a committee.

Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent  Mr. Speaker, October 20 is a sombre anniversary. Six years ago, Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent died at the hands of a terrorist who committed an act of unspeakable cowardice. For Warrant Officer Vincent, the army was not just a job, it was a calling. The army was his entire life.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. I heard him mention that the government should have appealed the ruling and that, practically speaking, parliamentarians are somewhat muzzled by the courts. He makes it sound like medical assistance in dying is going to be imposed on people with disabilities, whereas, in my view, this is more about a patient-centred approach.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech, which was compassionate and inspiring, not to mention very well put together and documented. I am very proud that he is our colleague. He spoke about the fact that, without the bill, some people would resort to the courts to finally win their case.

Regional Economic Development  Madam Speaker, Ottawa is investing $295 million to retool the Ford plant in Oakville, Ontario, so it can build electric vehicles. That is good news, but let's not forget that the expertise in transportation electrification is in Quebec, not Ontario. We are the ones who know about clean electricity, battery technology and charging stations.
