Citizenship Act  Madam Speaker, I would like to come back to what my Liberal colleague just said about an oath that properly reflects what Canada is. This reminds me that I have often heard the Prime Minister say that Canada was the first post-national country in the world. That means there is no nation in Canada.

Citizenship Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. I really liked the first part of his speech on reconciliation, which is essential. I agree with him on the need to recognize first nations. Speaking of reconciliation, I do not know if my colleague listened to the presentation by my colleague from Rivière-du-Nord earlier.

Citizenship Act  Mr. Speaker, I do not know where to begin. I want to congratulate my colleague on his completely surreal speech. We learned things about his grandparents. I quite like what he had to say about their 60 years of marriage. We heard about prorogation, oil, the oil sector, and especially the Queen.

Citizenship Act  Mr. Speaker, I congratulate my colleague for his very heartfelt speech. I would like to tell him that I believe he has hit the nail on the head when it comes to recognition. Bill C-8 recognizes the fundamental character of indigenous peoples. My colleague used several examples to point this out and spoke of the particular way in which indigenous people identify with nature, and we could learn a lot from that relationship.

Citizenship Act  Mr. Speaker, the bill before us today proves that it is possible to change something like the oath that must be taken to become a citizen. In my view, this bill does not go far enough. There is a first principle that we can only agree with, and that is our recognition of indigenous nations.

Broadcasting Act  Madam Speaker, I really enjoyed my colleague's speech, especially the part about the tyranny of sensitivity. That is a new concept. My colleague talked about the gaping hole in the bill with regard to taxing the web giants, GAFAM. I am surprised, because I always thought that Conservatives supported the principle of the less taxes, the better.

Judges Act  Mr. Speaker, my colleague referred to a study he consulted that demonstrates how certain myths and stereotypes are sometimes perpetuated in the justice system. That is what I took away from it. As I said earlier, it would be good for judges to get away from these outdated cultural constructs.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I enjoyed my colleague's speech. Everyone here is in agreement. I do not think anyone is opposed to this bill. I would like to pick up on my colleague's remarks by talking about myths and stereotypes. Some judges may have certain stereotypes. That is not too hard to imagine, given examples like the one my colleague shared about the Alberta judge who told the poor victim to squeeze her legs together.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I listened carefully to my colleague's speech. I think all parties in the House agree that this bill should move forward. I know that in Quebec, there have been some all-party discussions on a special court for sexual offences, an idea proposed by Véronique Hivon.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I listened carefully to my colleague. We know that the Liberals consider the list of party donors when choosing judges, but I will not get into that. I simply wanted to point it out. I believe that it is critical that judges take the social context into account.

Environmental Restoration Incentive Act  Madam Speaker, this will come as no surprise, but I do not see how my party can support this bill, especially since it flies in the face of one of the guiding principles of environmental policy, namely the polluter pays principle. This is miles away from that principle. Before I begin, I want to set the record straight.

Environmental Restoration Incentive Act  Madam Speaker, much of what my Conservative colleagues have been saying just does not add up. I remember a conversation I had with a Conservative colleague a while ago. He told me that what the Conservatives want when it comes to oil is not more federal money but less legislation.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, with respect to the recovery for all campaign, I do not know if there is a French petition. If yes, all the better. What I saw was in English only. In my opinion, when someone drafts a document in English only, they are not addressing Quebeckers. That goes without saying.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I enjoyed the last part of my colleague's speech, where he talked about minorities. If he wants to talk about conservatism, I would be glad to speak with him afterward. One of the best-off minorities in the world is the anglophone minority in Quebec. Although the anglophone minority accounts for 8% of Quebec's population, it receives 30% of the education budget.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, as I said earlier, this is certainly something worth studying. I added that tax avoidance is one hell of a problem. I fully understand that the House is responsible for tax issues, and this is fine with me. However, I am not a tax expert. I often criticize some of my colleagues in the House who pretend to be experts on everything.
