Elections Modernization Act  Mr. Speaker, I believe the hon. colleague owes me an apology. I clearly did not say she lied.

Elections Modernization Act  I appreciate your intervention, Mr. Speaker. My colleague across the way should have listened to this debate, as I have, from the very beginning, by all members of Parliament, especially in the last couple of days, because this is our last day in the House. I would challenge my hon. colleague to look through Hansard and see if some of the speeches by her own colleagues were relevant throughout.

Elections Modernization Act  Mr. Speaker, Bill C-76 is about electoral reform. It is about what we do in the House. It is about how we govern. Our national economy is directly related to this, how we function. Pipelines and softwood lumber all relate to this. It is, yet, another Liberal failure. We still do not have a softwood lumber agreement.

Elections Modernization Act  Mr. Speaker, I rise to speak for probably the last time in these hallowed halls. It is an honour to stand once again to speak to what has been deemed amendments to Bill C-76. I am going to focus my speech on Bill C-76, which represents yet another failure of the government. I want to bring Canadians back to day 10 of the 2015 election, when the member for Papineau, who is now the Prime Minister, said that under his government, debate would reign.

Opioid Crisis in Canada  Mr. Chair, I will not dignify that question with an answer. We have all shown respect and courtesy throughout this. The member well knows I was not a member of the previous government. The bottom line is this. There is a crisis before us today. The provinces, from my province right across the country, have called on the government to act and it has failed to do so.

Opioid Crisis in Canada  Mr. Chair, the member gave me many options with that question. When the Prime Minister sends a $50 million tweet, and nobody is discounting the good or worthiness of that cause, or if $600 million can be spent to purchase the media just before an election, or $400 million for Statistics Canada to harvest private data, or $800 million toward legalizing cannabis and then $250 million to be pledged, although only $50 million has really gone out the door, we need to do more.

Opioid Crisis in Canada  Mr. Chair, people should have the opportunity to go into a treatment facility if needed. They should get the help when needed, wherever needed and for as long as it is needed.

Opioid Crisis in Canada  Mr. Chair, I deeply respect our hon. colleague across the way. I am going to offer that I have not read the same reports that he is referring to. I would think we should first make sure that we have beds available. Let us make sure that we have treatment facilities available. Let us make sure that the drugs are not getting into our communities, whether it is our major centres or rural communities.

Opioid Crisis in Canada  Mr. Chair, I have listened to this debate right from the very start and I appreciate our colleagues sharing their stories and coming at this from a point of respect. It is interesting to stand here and talk about a national crisis, which is really truly what we have today. I will gear most of my speech towards the impact that this crisis is having on my province of British Columbia.

Opioid Crisis in Canada  Madam Chair, on a point of order, we have shown a considerable amount of courtesy to others when they are giving their debates. I am sitting right beside our hon. colleague and am struggling to hear what he is saying because of the other chatter that is going on throughout the House.

Infrastucture  Madam Speaker, three kilometres of the West Fraser Road in my riding have been washed out and impassable for eight months. Over 250 indigenous and non-indigenous families are being put at risk. Children as young as five years of age are spending up to five hours per day on a school bus, because the government cannot get funding out the door.

Infrastructure  Madam Speaker, in April, three kilometres of the West Fraser Road in my riding was washed out. It has been eight months and nothing has been done. I am shocked at the inaction of our provincial government, in particular the minister of transportation and infrastructure, and I am disappointed in the Minister of Infrastructure.
