Housing  Madam Speaker, Parliament rises today, but small municipalities and not-for-profits will work through Christmas trying to meet the December 31 deadline for rapid housing funds. Big cities, however, can simply collect their promised cheques. That is one set of rules. I know for a fact that small communities are still trying to make sense of the fund, never mind being in a position to submit an application.

Holiday Greetings  Madam Speaker, 2020 has been a tough year for our communities and for many families. During this Christmas season, local food banks need the support of those able to lend a helping hand. I am proud to celebrate Mission—Matsqui—Fraser Canyon's local organizations, emergency services and business associations that have faithfully rallied residents to stock the shelves at local food banks.

Canadian Multiculturalism Act  Madam Speaker, I would like to thank the member for Montcalm for his speech. First of all, does he not find it a little ironic that it was a Quebecker who created the Canadian Multiculturalism Act for Canada as a whole, and now it is another Quebecker who wants to abolish it, but only for Quebec?

Petitions  Mr. Speaker, I have another petition from my constituents calling on the government to stop targeting licenced law-abiding firearms owners. The petitioners call for our limited resources to be focused on anti-gang enforcement, reducing involvement of at-risk youth in gang violence and on providing the Canada Border Services Agency with the tools it needs to stop the flow of illegal guns into our country.

Petitions  Mr. Speaker, the second petition today addresses sex-selective abortion. The petitioners highlight that while it remains legal in Canada, polling shows 80% of Canadians believe it should be illegal. We need to show Canadians the House supports gender equality at all stages of life.

Main Estimates, 2020-21  Madam Speaker, I thank my Bloc Québécois colleague for his speech. The Parliamentary Budget Officer has said that we have no idea exactly how much this government has spent during the pandemic. Does the Bloc Québécois member think that this government is doing a good job managing our public finances?

Main Estimates, 2020-21  Madam Speaker, the Parliamentary Budget Officer said that we have no idea of the exact amounts that have been spent by this government during the pandemic. How can we trust this government when it will not tell us how much it is spending?

Main Estimates, 2020-21  Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank the hon. member for Lakeland for her remarks this evening. In the House today I have heard my Liberal colleagues talk about the Conservatives as if Conservatives do not support small business, and as if we did not support any of the programs.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, indeed, I agree with what the member for Courtenay—Alberni stated, that we need to work collectively for the best interests of Canada. I liked his comments on the recent news reports quoting Kevin Page at Ottawa University's Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy.
