Petitions  Mr. Speaker, I have the honour of presenting two petitions on the Canada summer jobs attestation. These petitions were initiated by my colleague from Carlton Trail—Eagle Creek, but a significant number of my constituents signed the petition as well. The petitioners are extremely concerned with the violation of their freedom of conscience, freedom of thought, and freedom of belief, which are fundamental freedoms.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, I will tell members about the Liberal support for agriculture. According to the numbers from the Parliamentary Budget Officer, the Liberals' carbon tax will devastate Canadian agriculture. At $50 a tonne, the Liberal carbon tax will cost a Manitoba pork producer more than $36,000 a year; a rancher in Alberta, $13,000; and a wheat grower in Saskatchewan, $12,000.

Firearms Act  Mr. Speaker, I would like to touch on something I know my colleague did not have a chance to speak about in his intervention. We had a rural crime task force in Alberta. Many of us had open houses throughout the province. One of the things that came out, loud and clear, was the frustration from our constituents that Bill C-71, proposed to deal with gun violence, gang violence, and illegal firearms, but those things were not in this bill.

International Trade  Mr. Speaker, Japan and South Korea have now suspended importing of Canadian wheat due to concerns about the GMO wheat that was found by the CFIA. Those two countries combined represent more than $650 million in market access for our Canadian wheat growers. Has the agriculture minister met with his counterparts in Japan and South Korea and what is his plan to try and regain this vital market access for our Canadian wheat farmers?

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, The agriculture minister claims Canadian farmers are fully supportive of the Liberal carbon tax. I do not think they are actually consulting with Canadian farmers at all. In fact, the president of the Western Canadian Wheat Growers said, "Farmers don't agree on everything, but if there's one issue they stand together on, it's in opposition to the carbon tax.”

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I want to ask a very quick question of my colleague. The Liberal agriculture minister said that Canadian farmers support the carbon tax. I would like to ask the member what he is hearing from the farmers in his constituency.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I find it almost humorous that the member talks about Conservatives putting out this myth. The myth is what the carbon tax will cost Canadians. If he does not want to talk about myths, then he should come clean and tell us what this will cost. The government knows the numbers.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I am absolutely in favour of Canadians making well-informed decisions when it comes to their food choices. What I am not in favour of is a Liberal government imposing a values test on the food we choose. When it comes to front-of-pack labelling, I want them to be based on good science.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, it is a pleasure to rise today to speak to our opposition day motion asking the Liberals to come clean on the carbon tax cover-up and tell Canadians exactly what the carbon tax is going to be costing Canadians. I will be splitting my time with my colleague, the hon. member for Prince Albert.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I appreciated the intervention from my colleague from Sherbrooke, but for a great deal of his speech he talked about the template that Alberta should be using for its climate change plan. I do not know if my colleague has been to Alberta and has seen the impact that the NDP's policies have had on its economy.

Latin American Heritage Month Act  Mr. Speaker, it is always nice to have the enthusiastic support of my colleagues. It is unfortunate that my friends across the way are not participating. I am the 18th Conservative member who has spoken to this very important bill. There has not been one single Liberal speaker tonight.

International Trade  Mr. Speaker, when it comes to U.S. demands on Canada's supply management system, when the Prime Minister is in the United States, he says he is flexible, and when he is back here in Canada, he says he supports the system. We know that an offer was made to the Americans as part of the NAFTA negotiations.

Fisheries Act  Mr. Speaker, I share my colleague's respect as well. I have always enjoyed his interventions. He said early on in his question, “this is not a partisan issue; this is about our fish”, but his first comment was “they” allegedly gutted the Fisheries Act. That is just not the case.

Fisheries Act  Mr. Speaker, I forgot to mention too for my friend from Vancouver Island that I really do appreciate his passion for his area. To the question from my colleague, we are talking about the damage that could take place. No one saw any damage. There is a lot of innuendo and this is my problem with the Liberals' process in this bill.

Fisheries Act  Mr. Speaker, I appreciate the opportunity to rise and speak on Bill C-68 tonight. The comment that was made earlier this evening from one of my colleagues across the floor was that he was happy that a member from the west coast or a coastal riding was getting up and speaking about this.
