Intergovernmental Relations  Mr. Speaker, we all condemn terrorists, but 50 years after Prime Minister Trudeau, this Prime Minister is trying to equate a peaceful political movement to terrorists. That movement was championed by honourable people, people who have become party leaders, a premier, the people who made the artist-inspired Quiet Revolution a reality.

Intergovernmental Relations  Mr. Speaker, René Lévesque was not the opposition leader and he never supported the War Measures Act, which he described as a military occupation of Quebec. Prime Minister Trudeau, Premier Bourassa and the mayor of Montreal thought up the lie of an apprehended insurrection devised and led by René Lévesque, Claude Ryan, Guy Rocher and union leaders, no less.

Intergovernmental Relations  Mr. Speaker, consideration for others often includes apologies, but this never seems to apply to Quebeckers. The Bloc Québécois condemns violence in all forms. It took pressure from the Bloc Québécois for the Prime Minister to recognize and denounce the attack in France last week and for the Armenian genocide to be recognized.

Intergovernmental Relations  Mr. Speaker, I ask a question about one thing, and the Prime Minister gives an answer about something else, as expected. Ottawa endorsed eastern bloc-style raids from the communist era. It subjected innocent people to violent interrogations. Tens of thousands of people were questioned.

Intergovernmental Relations  Mr. Speaker, during the indigenous standoff, the Prime Minister made it clear that the government does not send in the army against its own citizens. In 1970, Canada invoked the War Measures Act against civilians in Quebec, resulting in the arrest of 497 people without warrants, without cause, without due process, without explanation, without contact with their families, and ultimately without compensation.

Indigenous affairs  Mr. Speaker, when I asked about a University of Ottawa professor being deprived of her freedom, the Prime Minister replied that we are responsible for what we say. I imagine that we are just as responsible for the makeup we wear. I refused to define him as a racist during his blackface scandal.

Indigenous affairs  Mr. Speaker, we are not living in a fantasy world where history can be rewritten. The Bloc Québécois supports a nation-to-nation relationship. I get the impression that the Prime Minister does not know what a nation is. The Prime Minister probably does not watch the news, because the Bloc Québécois publicly recognized the concept of systemic racism in March.

Post-Secondary Education  Mr. Speaker, the French-speaking community in the Americas is often subjected to harmful comments and words. However, that pales in comparison to what visible minorities sometimes suffer on a daily basis. We must stand with them and commit to making society better. It starts with knowledge, science and critical analysis.

Post-Secondary Education  Mr. Speaker, in 2015, we heard the Liberals say “Canada is back” on the international stage. Then there was the Aga Khan scandal. In 2019, we wanted to talk about the environment, but then there was the first part of the judicial appointments scandal. In 2020, we wanted to invest in the fight against COVID-19, but instead we are investing in the WE Charity scandal.

Post-Secondary Education  Mr. Speaker, it seems the Prime Minister forgot to put maple syrup in the Pablum. It tastes a little bland. This week, we wanted to revisit the matter of the WE Charity, but we had to talk about the judicial appointment process again. When we wanted to talk about the judicial appointment process, we had to talk about the $237 million that was given to a Liberal friend, so we know that a friend is a friend.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, if the Liberals stand up for Quebec the way they stand up for the Davie shipyard, we are in real trouble. The Bloc Québécois voted against the throne speech because the Bloc Québécois would not stand for an attack on Quebec's health care system. We were prepared to trigger an election over that.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, I do not have confidence in this government. I doubt it will last past the spring. That said, the government House leader is almost as bad as the Prime Minister. No one buys that argument. The government is trying to either force an election or get us to overlook its ethical problems.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, that sounds nice but is not very believable. Someone who does not want to ride a bicycle should not buy a bicycle only to wind up pedalling. The Prime Minister does not want an election. Can he tell his neighbour to the left that it was a close call, but this is not a confidence motion, that a committee will be struck and we will get to the bottom of this WE Charity scandal because he prorogued Parliament to try to avoid that?

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, the stress, suspense and tension have become unbearable. Will there be an election? That is the big question, but the government itself says that this is a vote of confidence. It is daring us. Either a deal has already been cooked up somewhere or the government thinks it will never happen, but either way, the government does not want to take the blame.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I am not surprised to hear the NDP member's concern for the Liberal government. The two parties are so close. Our tactics are up to us. The difference between the NDP's tactics and ours is that we in the Bloc Québécois choose our own tactics. The New Democrats get theirs dictated by the other side of the House, but that is their choice.
