Points of Order  Madam Speaker, I rise on the same point of order. I suggest that we suspend until we can resolve this, or we can move the opposition motion, but the government motion should be dropped.

Marijuana  Mr. Speaker, that again is a failure of the Prime Minister to take responsibility. Last year, Montreal police discovered 977 pot plants and more than $15,000 on the premises of a couple in Montreal. This year, despite the ongoing criminal investigation of that couple, Health Canada gave them a permit to grow more than 600 cannabis plants for medical purposes.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I agree with what my colleague had to say about the tariffs. In my riding of Sarnia—Lambton, we have manufacturers that can fabricate in Sarnia or in Michigan, and they are already moving jobs to Michigan because of the tariffs. When I look at the number of jobs that have been lost by the failed actions of the Liberal government, it is not just the jobs from the tariffs.

Health  Mr. Speaker, many Canadians have been impacted by the failure of medical devices like meshes and implants. After a whole year of outcry, the health minister 's weak response is to evaluate whether a registry of who has the device is the right thing to do. Meanwhile, the U.S. FDA has overhauled its approval process for devices to consider post-surgery outcomes.

Health  Mr. Speaker, yesterday I asked the health minister about serious drug shortages in Canada and her answer was that the government had a web page where it listed them all. A web page does not get medications to the Canadians who need them. What is next, an app? Clearly, addressing the shortages was not a priority in the fall economic update.

Resumption and Continuation of Postal Service Operations Legislation  Mr. Speaker, I am continually astounded by the naivety of the current Liberal government. It seems to me that it never considers competent leadership when it is doing something. When one has a plan, one also has to have a backup plan. There needs to be a contingency. The government has waited until the 11th hour on this crisis, when it has started to affect small businesses.

Health  Mr. Speaker, first it was the EpiPen injector shortage that threatened the lives of our children in August. Now there is a shortage of the antidepressant drug Wellbutrin that patients, many of whom are suicidal, desperately need. The Canadian Pharmacists Association says it is concerned about the growing number of drug shortages in Canada.

Health  Mr. Speaker, the safety of the food that Canadians eat should be a top priority for any government. Cases of E. coli have been occurring for over a month in Canada by people who consume romaine lettuce. Just now, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States has ordered grocery stores to pull this contaminated product.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I am sure that the member opposite, in her role in international affairs, has encountered countries where forced marriage exists. I am astounded that the government here in Canada could allow forced marriage in this bill, which essentially means individuals being forced to have sex again and again with someone they did not give consent to.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank the member for Saanich—Gulf Islands for her very hard work. She is on her own, coming to all of the different committees with all of the different bills, and she does a thorough job of bringing amendments. I am specifically interested in understanding, with all of the amendments she put forward, which ones she considers to be the most important that should be included when the bill goes to the other place.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, do I trust the criminal justice system? We have just seen an example where a convicted child killer was moved to a healing lodge with no fence and where children were present. Therefore, no, I do not trust the criminal justice system to make adequate decisions. We have also seen criminals let out on weekends with weekend passes and reoffending.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I thank the member for Kitchener—Conestoga for always standing up for victims and their rights. When it comes to impaired driving, whether alcohol or drug impairment, absolutely Mothers Against Drunk Drivers is outraged, but even beyond that, Canadians are outraged.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, it is a pleasure to rise in the House and speak to Bill C-75, an act to amend the Criminal Code, the Youth Criminal Justice Act and other acts and to make consequential amendments to other acts. It is disappointing to again see the Liberal government bring in a 300-page omnibus bill after the Liberals specifically said in their campaign promises that they were not going to do that.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I noted in the member's speech that he was clear that acts of terrorism and advocating genocide have been taken off the list of offences that are being reduced to a less than two year summary conviction or a fine. What made the government think that acts of terrorism and advocating genocide were minor enough crimes to be on the list in the first place?

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I am wondering if the member could explain why he thinks that forceable confinement, the kidnapping of a minor, or enforced marriage are minor enough offences that they should have a summary conviction of less than two years or a fine, as laid out in Bill C-75.
