Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague and congratulate him on a very heartfelt speech. He named many of the innocent victims of that horrendous crisis. He also quoted a number of artists. I would like my colleague to explain his perspective on things. In his opinion, why did the raids carried out in 1970 target Quebec artists in particular?

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her excellent speech, which was very moving. She began her remarks with a series of names. I would like to add one, if I may: Pierre Bibeau. Mr. Bibeau, who now lives in Saint-Alexis-des-Monts, called my constituency office this week. He was agitated, touched and very emotional about the Bloc Québécois' plans to move a motion this week demanding an apology.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I understand why the member for Sherbrooke would want to change the subject, but we will bring her back to today's topic. Earlier, we were told that we omitted historical facts from our request for an apology, which is completely false. We actually spoke of deplorable events that occurred in that period.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. I invite my colleagues who have concerns about this bill and who find parts of it to be vague to accept it and have confidence in the work that will be done by committees. We believe that the bill is quite clear. It prohibits causing a person to undergo conversion therapy against the person’s will, causing a child to undergo conversion therapy, removing a child from Canada with the intention that the child undergo conversion therapy outside Canada, advertising an offer to provide conversion therapy, and receiving a financial or other material benefit from the provision of conversion therapy.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I think that is one of the most compelling speeches we have heard on the bill. Hats off to the member. As the previous speaker said, she debunked a bunch of myths and bogus arguments, such as medical treatment, which the bill does not address, private conversations, which are not in jeopardy, and religious beliefs.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I commend my colleague for his speech. Yesterday, reference was made to people who get sex changes or other such medical procedures. It was said that we should be asking ourselves some questions in that regard. Personally, I think that is confusing the issue, since the main purpose of the bill currently before us is to protect children from unacceptable treatment.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her very relevant question. It gives me an opportunity to set the record straight and to make a general appeal to the House. I would ask members not to confuse the issue. Of course, there will be cases where people will want to undergo the reverse process.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague from Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie for the nice compliment and for agreeing with me. People who are open-minded and accept others for who they are sometimes tend to wonder if we still need pride parades after all this time. I would say we do, and for one simple reason: As long as people feel the need to hold such parades, and as long as such concerns persist, awareness raising must continue.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I sincerely thank my colleague for his heartfelt question. There is a reason that we generally agree on things, and that is because we share the same values. This is important because there must be consequences for those who torture others. It is as simple as that.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I am honoured to rise today to speak to Bill C-6 on behalf of the Bloc Québécois and on behalf of my constituents in Berthier—Maskinongé. Members will not be surprised to hear that Bloc Québécois members support this bill, if for no other reason than to show respect for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague from Vancouver Kingsway for his speech. We agree on a number of things, particularly the fact that we have before us a government whose policy seems to be one of withholding information to cover up its scandals. Contrary to what it said, the government does not want to collaborate.

Government Commitments  Mr. Speaker, today, for the umpteenth time, dairy farmers called on the government to grant a simple request: that it keep its word. We ask farmers to keep us fed, so the least we can do is support them. The government needs to show them a modicum of respect, since they have been sacrificed in recent trade agreements.

World Egg Day  Madam Speaker, I am very pleased to rise today to mark World Egg Day, which takes place on Friday. We are talking here about a local product that feeds our people and helps revitalize our regions. I start every day with an egg. It is a nutritious, high quality food that will help anyone get through the day.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Madam Speaker, I share the same feelings and concerns as my colleague. He talked about the mental health of seniors. I would like him to talk about those aged 65 to 75. Have they not been isolated and hard hit by the crisis? Do they not need a bit of breathing room, in other words an increase in their pension?

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Madam Speaker, our Conservative colleague raised a rather important point about spending levels and the need to start considering the repercussions of that spending. In his speech, our Liberal colleague pointed out that the government was helping Canadians. However, one thing that Bloc members find particularly disturbing is that the throne speech created two classes of seniors because it is not increasing pensions starting at age 65.
