Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, my colleague just talked about it. I believe that we need to remember the role of the opposition, whether or not there is a crisis. I would like him to comment on that. It is because of the hard work of the opposition and the Bloc Québécois among others that the Liberal sponsorship scandal was discovered.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech. I want to say a word here, and I think it will be clear where I am going with this: samfundssind. This word comes from the Danish language council. The Conservatives just talked about serving people. The Liberals claim to be willing to call an election if they no longer have the confidence of the House, but that they want to focus on serving the public.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my Conservative colleague for his speech, and I have a question for him. This summer, as a member of the Standing Committee on the Status of Women, I had to travel to Ottawa to urgently study the impacts of the pandemic. We were supposed to send a letter to our minister, then study what has been done this fall and report back.

Health  Mr. Speaker, apparently the government needs a little reminder. Does it know who looks after seniors in Quebec's health care system? Orderlies, nurses and doctors do. National standards do not look after Quebeckers. People who work for money and need to be supplied with the necessary resources do.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her question. I remind members that the notion of mental health is not addressed in this bill because my colleague, the member for Montcalm, pointed out the need to be careful when dealing with such a sensitive issue as mental health.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for the question. Eliminating the 10 days is a matter of dignity. This will allow some people to avoid suffering for days unnecessarily. As far as the committee work is concerned, we are aware that there is a world of difference between Bill C-14 and Bill C-7.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her question. I already addressed this in my speech. We must remember that it is important that we not pit palliative care against medical assistance in dying. We must continue to ensure that Quebec and the provinces receive the money they need for their health care systems through health transfers.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, that is one more reason to ensure that health care systems across Quebec and Canada have adequate funding through health transfers, as we have pointed out. This would give people access to specialists who could weigh in. That is why the government must increase health transfers and ensure that people everywhere have better access to care.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I would first like to mention that I will be sharing my time with the hon. member for Beauport—Limoilou. I am speaking here in the House of Commons today about Bill C-7, an act to amend the Criminal Code with respect to medical assistance in dying. Many people here have had unique experiences involving the end of a loved one’s life.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her presentation. I appreciate her sensitivity on this matter and would like to hear her thoughts on the following. My colleague just mentioned the importance of making sure everyone has access to health care. I would like to go back to an important aspect of this bill.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. I also thank him for agreeing at the last minute to say the final words in the debate on Bill C-3. I think we have covered this issue. We are nearing the end of the debate. Everyone agrees that it is important for judges to receive training in order to fight the stereotypes associated with sexual assault.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague from Fredericton for her speech, and I congratulate her on the Green Party's new leader. I noticed that my colleague is deeply concerned about missing and murdered indigenous women and girls. That issue is near and dear to my heart, and I hope to have the chance to study it as a member of the Standing Committee on the Status of Women.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech. In many ways, she and I are just as passionate about the cause and the advancement of women in politics. In fact, before I was elected, I ran workshops focusing on the issue of women and poverty. Clearly, there is a connection.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I will elaborate on my colleague's comments. We are here to debate Bill C-3, an important bill that will help victims of sexual assault. My colleague just said that prorogation made it possible to turn the page and focus on the economy. Let us talk about the economic victims: women.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, other committees should already be looking into the possibility of expanding the scope of this issue to include other levels of the justice system. I would remind hon. members that the focus of Bill C-3 is training for judges. Other ongoing work will help determine how to expand the scope of this issue with respect to our justice system.
