Taxation  Conservatives have no record to stand on when it comes to taxes. When we lowered, not once, not twice but three times, taxes on middle-class Canadians, how did the Conservatives vote? They voted against. When we reduced taxes on workers, how did the Conservatives vote? They voted against. When we lowered taxes across the board, once again they voted against.

Science and Research committee  We've been at the bottom of the OECD for the last 40 years in productivity and we're forecast to be there for the next 40 years, and that's why middle-class Canadians are having trouble making ends meet.

Taxation  It is going to be an opportunity for us to continue doing what we have been doing, which is making life more affordable for Canadians by lowering taxes for middle-class Canadians and lowering taxes for small businesses, which has allowed us to grow. Despite the fact that we have the lowest net debt-to-GDP ratio in the G7, we are delivering programs like child care, health care and dental care to make life more affordable for Canadians.

Business of Supply  That is why today we Conservatives are calling on the Liberal government to cancel its massive 6.3% tax increase on beer, wine and spirits this April 1, to give relief to middle-class Canadians and those seeking to join them. Canadians do not want to be taxed more. They want to be taxed less. Another frustrating element to this is that the Liberal government acknowledges and knows that the finances and personal savings of Canadians are under attack, but what it fails to acknowledge or realize is that it is the very driver of this problem and a big reason why Canadians are suffering.

Employment  Speaker, allow me to say that, over the past eight years, it has been an honour and a pleasure to work so closely with organized labour across this country. We have been able to build opportunities for middle-class Canadians right across the country by standing up for unions, by ensuring that, first of all, we reverse the anti-union legislation the Conservatives had put forward under Stephen Harper, but more than that, that we build for a stronger future in partnership.

Finance  We are also providing dental care for 230,000 children under the age of 12 and providing affordable child care so that working parents can re-enter the workforce more easily. We will continue to invest in our economy to provide opportunities for middle-class Canadians, while making life more affordable and getting inflation under control.

Business of Supply  Speaker, it is always great to rise to address the House on a very important topic, which is the opposition motion today. Since being elected in 2015, the government that I am part of has put middle-class Canadians first and has been there to assist Canadians working very hard to join the middle class. Our government is well aware that many Canadian families are struggling to make ends meet.

The Economy  Madam Speaker, after eight years under this Prime Minister, inflationary policies have shattered the dreams of middle-class Canadians. They are the big losers of this government's decisions. Middle-class Canadians are excluded from the Liberals' aid programs because they are too rich, but they are not rich enough to benefit from the Prime Minister's generosity to his friends.

Government Priorities  I simply do not understand why it is that when we try to improve the situation of Canadians, Conservatives vote against it. On two different occasions, we reduced taxes for middle-class Canadians and the Conservatives voted against it. On two different occasions, we reduced taxes on small business owners and the Conservatives voted against that as well. We have been investing in Canadians, and the $10-a-day child care agreement is the latest example.

The Economy  Madam Speaker, we reduced taxes for middle-class Canadians on two separate occasions, and both times the Conservatives voted against it. I would like to address the Statistics Canada report of this morning, which indicated that 150,000 new jobs were created in January alone.

The Economy  Madam Speaker, the Conservatives are talking about the middle class. We cut taxes for middle-class Canadians twice. The Conservatives voted against those measures. This morning, we learned that 150,000 new jobs were created in Canada. One-third of those jobs, or nearly 50,000, were created in Quebec.

Public Accounts committee  I want to start by mentioning how concerned I am in regard to an audit like this, one that I think puts regular working class, middle-class Canadians in the crosshairs of the CRA, especially in light of our testimony from the commissioner last week in relation to my question about corporate tax avoidance. We're facing a unique issue here where we have limited resources.

Housing  Speaker, the government is committed to levelling the playing field for young and middle-class Canadians looking to buy a home. That is why budget 2022 announced that we would work with provinces and territories to develop and implement a homebuyers' bill of rights and a national plan to end blind bidding.

Carbon Pricing  Speaker, let us talk about the Conservative record on taxes. Our government cut taxes on middle-class Canadians twice and the Conservatives voted against. We cut taxes on the hardest-working class Canadians three times and the Conservatives voted against. We reduced taxes on small businesses and, true to form, the Conservatives voted against.
