Procedure and House Affairs committee  I would argue that it is happening in that fashion because the Conservative party has chosen to politicize. That's why I think it's good to bring up some examples of what real Canadians are saying. Towards the end of the discussion yesterday.... It didn't get anywhere near as much time as I and I'm sure other members would have liked to see. I know Ms. Petitpas Taylor, who is a former minister of health, is very passionate on the issue of mental health.

Canada-United Kingdom Trade Continuity Agreement Implementation Act  Of course, Conservatives did not care a whit about Canadian energy sovereignty when they negotiated NAFTA back then, and I was glad to see that go. Therefore, yes, when we can point to tangible wins for real Canadians, not just the guys at the top, we are prepared to vote for agreements but, man, do they ever come sparsely. It is because we have both Liberals and Conservatives who are happy to run around the world figuring out how quickly they can sell out everyday Canadians to do a solid for their corporate buddies.

Foreign Affairs committee  Chong's wording from another committee—but more than witnesses, with Chastelain's involvement in this, we have a real Canadian stake in the accord, which was brokered by a Canadian, and we understand that. We're predisposed to be in favour of the motion. However, I have heard that it is being discussed at the trade committee today.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I certainly appreciated what my colleague had to say at the end of his comments, as in other comments in the House earlier, regarding the need to continue to help people and to spend money to help real Canadians, real people. This government has spent significantly, I believe upward of $325 billion, to help real people. I hope the Conservatives remember that when they come back several months from now to say that it was too much.

Fall Economic Statement  Guess which decision businesses are faced with. If the government spent half as much time meeting with real Canadians and small business owners than it spends on photo ops, it would know that workers and small business owners are asking for clarity. Canadians in a pandemic are not asking it to ban single-use plastics.

Broadcasting Act  Our bill and the instructions it gives will give the CRTC all the tools it needs to ensure that funding and regulations support Canadian content in both official languages, but also indigenous, multicultural, real Canadian content and just a window into Hollywood. This is the best approach to ensure that Canada's creators can continue to create audio and audiovisual works that reflect who we are as a country.

Income Tax Act  It helps people continue to have meaningful work and helps SMEs keep their businesses open, pay their rent and mortgages, and avoid bankruptcy. It helps real Canadians, the Canadians who have built this country and now count on the government to support them in their time of need. The sliding scale of up to 65% support in the Canadian emergency rent support, combined with lockdown support, would mean that hard-hit businesses subject to a lockdown could receive rent support for up to 90%.

Criminal Code  It is the authoritative layer that protects individuals who are vulnerable. The reality of the situation facing real Canadians is that co-occurring mental and physical illness is extremely common and should not be a barrier to anyone's right to bodily autonomy at the end of their life. Severe depression often accompanies other medical illnesses, and has a high rate of occurrence among persons with disabilities.

Industry committee  A report from CTV has two grocery store workers in Windsor testing positive for COVID-19. That was public today. They are from the Real Canadian Superstore on Walker Road and the Dougall Avenue location as well. If anyone has said that the pandemic and the price of work have lessened, it's not true. We all know a second wave is coming.

COVID-19 Pandemic committee  It is Canadian workers and businesses who will have to do the hard work of rebuilding our economy. It is real Canadians who fall through the cracks when this Liberal government's programs fail to meet their intended goals. A rubber stamp under the guise of health and safety is not democracy. Canadians are owed better.

Proceedings of the House and Committees  On top of that, the government is making Amazon even richer by giving it a contract. We have seen that in crises, it is working people, regular people, real Canadians, who bear the brunt of the crisis and that those at the very top do not bear the brunt and in fact find ways to profit in this crisis. A recent poll shows overwhelming support in Canada for increasing taxes on the super wealthy, making sure that we have the revenue we need to help people recover.

Environment committee  We are supporting Canadian innovators and entrepreneurs through an investment of nearly $19 million in the Canadian plastics innovation challenge, which results in real Canadian-made solutions. I have a couple of examples. Axipolymer, based in Montreal, will create a recyclable multi-layered film that can be used for food packaging. GreenMantra Technologies, in Brantford, Ontario, will transform polystyrene insulation waste into new insulation.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  People in the trade justice network, labour unions and other parts of civil society know that these trade agreements can have a real impact on the lives of working people, not just corporate tycoons who are going to make more money but real Canadians who have a real potential to lose out on things that matter to them in their lives. This is going to give them a window in, to know where to start looking and sniffing around to find out what is going on and how it is going to affect people, whether they are members of unions or organizations, or just ordinary Canadians whose welfare they are concerned for.

Emergency Debate  He told me he had not worked for 18 months and could not afford his house anymore. His wife just left him, so he could not afford the payments. These are real Canadians who are having difficult times. It is incumbent upon the government to support all of Canada. The crux of the motion is that we should have had this conversation when this happened in the automobile and aerospace sectors because those jobs are as important as the jobs in western Canadian provinces.

Emergency Debate  The science is clear: Human activity is driving unprecedented changes in the earth's climate, and the impacts on the environment and on human health and well-being are real. Canadians are feeling the impacts of the changing climate. Climate change is a huge challenge, but the opportunities are even greater. Again, we need to move on. Taking strong action can protect the health of Canadians, support biodiversity and create opportunities for Canadian businesses and jobs in the clean-growth economy.
