Canadian Heritage committee  Some of them have nothing to do with problems inside the news industry itself. Some of them have to do with the explosion of consumer choice. There are many options and ways you can spend your leisure time, and consuming the news is no longer a shared thing we do together. It's not modelled for us in the same way that it used to be.

National Council for Reconciliation Act  This is something that has been on my mind and the minds of many members today, of course, with the release of the explosive arrive scam report from the Auditor General. This report contains a variety of findings that I know we have had an opportunity to discuss and will have more opportunity to discuss in the House.

Public Safety  The mayor of Surrey has taken note. In a letter pleading with the Liberals to do something about the explosion of life-threatening extortion in her community, she said that she has “terrified” people in her community. Conservatives would restore mandatory minimum sentences for convicted extortionists, and stop the crime explosion rate that is terrorizing Canadians across the country.

Environment committee  Compared to the past, to all of human history, we are currently witnessing a demographic explosion everywhere on the planet. That also puts pressure on our water resources. We can manage it by conserving water. That way, new people will be able to come to our rural and urban communities and we will not need to build new infrastructure.

Business of Supply  I will continue by sharing a few numbers. In 2007, there were 47,000 temporary immigrants in Quebec. Today, there are 470,000, an explosive increase. In Canada, there are 2.5 million temporary immigrants. In 2023, the Canadian population grew by more than 1 million people. However, while the population increased by 1 million, barely 150,000 housing units were built.

Finance committee  Thank you, Mr. Chair. Mr. Brazeau, on Tuesday, there was a rather explosive report published by Sam Cooper at The Bureau. Because you're nodding your head, I think you're probably aware of this report. The report outlines very serious allegations of mortgage fraud at HSBC, which led to a commensurate campaign of money laundering.

Justice committee  We've seen events ranging from the disruption of school board meetings to the disruption of children's sporting days by those who have some preconceived idea of what children of a certain gender should look like to actual hate attacks in my own community, where pride flags were torn down from a house, thrown up against the house and set on fire. We're seeing an explosion of these kinds of things. Again, I think much of it starts online, but it has real impacts in our communities and on feelings of safety, which my community doesn't share with everybody else.

Business of Supply  Just last summer, they brushed off concerns about rising crime rates, suggesting that Canadians were imagining the problem. What is our solution? The Prime Minister's reckless policies have caused an explosion of car thefts and made our communities dangerous, and the only action he has taken to fix this mess is to hold a summit. We do not need another summit. We need a common-sense plan to stop the theft and the crime.

Public Safety  The Prime Minister is not worth the cost or the crime. His reckless policies have caused an explosion in car thefts. He is responsible for the ports. He is responsible for the RCMP and the Criminal Code. These are federal responsibilities. Car thefts have spiked 190% in Moncton and 93% in Saint John.

Business of Supply  I would like my colleague to comment on the rhetoric, the reasoning behind today's Conservative motion. They claim that the explosion in auto theft is because of the Liberal government. They say it is because of Bill C‑5, even though that bill did not receive royal assent until late 2022. They also say it is because sentences are too lenient, but these sentences, which were added to the Criminal Code in 2010, were the result of Bill S‑9.

Business of Supply  The Insurance Bureau of Canada says that auto theft has become a national crisis, with more than 200 vehicles stolen, on average, every day. The explosion of car thefts is making life even more unaffordable for Canadians. In 2022, car thefts cost the insurance industry over $1 billion, resulting in higher insurance costs for every Canadian on their insurance premiums.
