Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for the question. I made my opinion on the case of Marylène Levesque known in the previous session. I think we can walk and chew gum at the same time. We can pass this bill, and other committees can examine the issue at other levels. We know that some have said they want to expand the scope of this issue, and there are other places where we can look at that.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her question. Quebec is addressing the issue of education and training for judges on sexual assault cases. Those discussions are under way. I would like to take a moment to expand on this. The civil courts could be another possible avenue for supporting sexual assault victims.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, what I do know is that the bill can be passed and that it is up to a committee to study the issue of protection with regard to judges. We know that some members of the Quebec bar association have expressed concerns. The bill has evolved. We just have to ensure that the issue of judicial integrity is studied in committee.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I will be sharing my time with the hon. member for Laurentides—Labelle. This week, I got to see a comedy called How to Be a Good Wife. The movie made me realize that, not so long ago, women could not wear pants or dress how they liked. I am getting to the point, so please be patient.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech. I am very happy that we agree that action on Bill C-3 is long overdue. I heard her denounce the Liberals' decision to prorogue, which delayed the passage of this bill. We would not have had to wait for third reading, which was delayed by the Liberals' decision to prorogue, if the Conservatives had unanimously agreed to send this bill directly to the Senate.

Seniors  Mr. Speaker, this evening we will be voting against the throne speech because we see that seniors are unfortunately not included in the government's plans. It is negligent to not agree to increase old age security starting at age 65 to support their buying power when we want to get the economy going again.

Seniors  Mr. Speaker, the member answered my question on seniors by talking about an election. This is nonsense. The real question is, why? Why refuse to help Quebec's health system provide the best possible care to seniors by increasing transfers? Why deny seniors between the ages of 65 and 75 an old age security increase that they deserve?

Judges Act  Mr. Speaker, I want to thank my colleague. I had the opportunity to work with her on the Standing Committee on the Status of Women this summer, until Parliament was prorogued. I still think that prorogation was the wrong decision, for one, because that committee was looking into the need to examine how COVID-19 is impacting women, particularly with respect to violence.

Judges Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank the minister for her presentation. As a member of the Standing Committee on the Status of Women, I take a special interest in this bill. I have also worked with community organizations that help women who have experienced violence and rape. This is a very delicate subject, and my thoughts go out to all survivors.

Judges Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. As my colleagues from Saint-Jean and Rivière-du-Nord said, this bill is a first step. There will be work to be done in committee, and the Bloc would like to collaborate on those efforts. I would like to hear my colleague's thoughts on an idea raised by my colleague from Saint-Jean.

Judges Act  Mr. Speaker, Bill C-3 seems extremely important for renewing victims' trust in the justice system. The reporting process is often central and victims have to be able to speak out with confidence. In the summer, we saw the terrible consequences of the pandemic on women, who have suffered violence and assault.

Resumption of debate on Address in Reply  Mr. Speaker, I would first like to congratulate my colleague for his appointment as shadow minister for public services and procurement. In his speech, he talked a lot about honesty, transparency and taxpayers. I would like to hear what he has to say about the Bloc Québécois' proposal because, as a result of the CERB, there are going to be a lot of problems come tax time.

Seniors  Mr. Speaker, most Quebeckers are in the red zone as of today. Seniors cannot have visitors for the next 28 days, and they will be more isolated than ever. In addition to the anxiety caused by COVID-19, our seniors continue to live with financial stress, yet Ottawa refuses to lift a finger to help them.

Seniors  Mr. Speaker, I have good news for seniors between the ages of 65 and 75. According to the federal government, they are immune to COVID-19. Even in a lockdown, they are immune to loneliness and isolation. The cost of groceries is not going up for those privileged to be between the ages of 65 and 75.

National Seniors Day  Mr. Speaker, October 1 has been known as National Seniors Day since 1991.This day is an opportunity to acknowledge how much seniors contribute to society and our communities. On this day, I want to remind members that seniors' finances have been made worse by the crisis, and with the arrival of the second wave and the return to self-isolation, we can no longer just say that it will all work out.
