Points of Order  Mr. Speaker, the Minister of Foreign Affairs mentioned a couple of times two investigative processes to look into the Senate allegations. I am just curious if the minister would like to explain, or inform the House which two independent bodies are looking into this already.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, it is clear now that the Conservative government under the Prime Minister has lost its moral compass. The Prime Minister's right-hand man secretly paid a parliamentarian $90,000 to obstruct an audit. Canadians deserve better. They deserve actual transparency and accountability.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister is in it up to his neck and the members opposite know it. It is now clear that the government has lost its moral compass under this Prime Minister. The Prime Minister's right-hand man made a secret $90,000 deal with a parliamentarian in order to obstruct an audit.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, Canadians work hard and play by the rules. They pay their own debts. Apparently, when the Conservatives break the rules, they get their debts secretly paid off by their friends in high places. It boggles the mind. Nobody over there even thinks anybody did anything wrong except get caught.

Employment  Mr. Speaker, yesterday the Prime Minister asked me for a positive proposal, so I am giving him one: pull these ads and invest in summer job programs for our youth. What is worse, these ads become increasingly expensive as we get further into the playoffs. If a Canadian team makes it to the finals, every time hockey fans have to sit through this waste of ad space, they will know that it is costing the equivalent of 45 summer jobs for young Canadians.

Employment  Mr. Speaker, young people need our help to get job experience. The Prime Minister does not seem to realize that, and it does not appear that he will, since he did away with the census that could have provided reliable data. As though that were not enough, people watching the hockey playoffs last night were subjected to the famous action plan ads.

Employment  Mr. Speaker, we will not have a prosperous middle class if our youth are not able to start their careers with good work experience. Maybe if the Prime Minister were more of a people person and got out more, or failing that, if he had not cut the census, he would have seen that we cannot afford to waste a cent on budget ads when so many young Canadians need our help.

Government Advertising  Mr. Speaker, by offering a disappointing budget that raises taxes on the middle class and does nothing to help Canadians find work, the Conservatives have shown yet again that they are out of touch. With a new round of wasteful government ads, they demonstrate once again their lack of competence in their spending.

Government Advertising  Mr. Speaker, in the past few days, I have met with Canadians in Winnipeg, in Edmonton and up the Ottawa Valley. The thing is that they evidently have a better understanding of our economy and the challenges we face than the government. Whether in food courts or in teachers' lounges, the message is clear, that it is only getting harder for Canadians to make ends meet.

Government Advertising  Mr. Speaker, it is becoming obvious that, rather than helping Canadians, the government would rather continue to spin Canadians. Canadians have been inundated with these famous action plan ads for four years now. When is the government going to stop wasting taxpayers' money on ads during Hockey Night in Canada?

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister needs to listen more so he can learn about the challenges facing the middle class. Since 2006, our economy has grown, on average, a mediocre 1.5% per year. The forecast for this current year: 1.5%. Not since R.B. Bennett was in power in the 1930s have we seen numbers this bad for a prime minister.

Taxation  Mr. Speaker, I have met more Canadians in the past six months than the Prime Minister has in the past six years. He really needs to get out more. The Conservatives know very well that their higher tariffs will reduce competitiveness, kill jobs and hurt Canadian consumers. Will the Prime Minister finally do something to help the middle class and cancel his new $330 million tax?

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister's answers yesterday clearly demonstrated just how out of touch he is with the needs of middle-class Canadians. Not only does he not have a plan, but he does not even understand that Canada needs a plan. Median household incomes have flatlined. The only thing rising faster than the cost of education and child care is personal debt.
