Information & Ethics committee  The ability for registered lobbyists to freely participate in political campaigns should be, in our view, clear and unequivocal. Our brief shows that the U.K., the EU, and the U.S. treat lobbying and volunteer political activity very differently from how Canada treats them. Furthermore, unlike the U.S., Canada prohibits corporate donations.

Business of Supply  Yesterday, more than 400 elementary school children came to Parliament Hill to deliver their message to the government. Their message was clear. Aboriginal children have the right to an education of the same quality as other children. They can be counted among the many children across this country determined to carry on the legacy of Shannen Koostachin, to fulfill her dream of a school and quality education for her community of Attawapiskat and all first nations communities.

Natural Resources committee  When you talked earlier, you said a number of things, including a lack of recognition, no clear process, and no system. There's a lack of recognition of what? I just didn't understand it. It's probably not worth spending time on. I will ask the same question to you about potential employees and the number of people.

Transport committee  Chow, I think it is important to put on the record for the information of all members that port authorities are self-financing. They're not financed through the government. That is just to make the record clear. Ms. Chow.

Transport committee  Here's another case of the NDP not only not doing its research but now sinking to new lows. Mr. Watson was cleared over two years ago by the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner, Mary Dawson, of any allegation of impropriety and conflict of interest. The head of the Toronto Port Authority, Mark McQueen, said that it was time to put this matter to rest and move on with advancing Toronto's economy.

Health committee  Just imagine the person seeing all kinds of people crowding around when the seizure is over. The space around the person must be kept clear.

Transport committee  The Conflict of interest and Ethics Commissioner noted: According to...Mr. Watson, he had made it clear on several occasions that he was a “good friend” of Mr. Deluce and that he had mentioned sharing various social occasions, including golf, with Mr. Deluce. This appointment I believe contravened the Canada Marine Act because it said that a mandatory requirement for the appointment of directors is that there be a “consultation” process with port users that should be followed.

Health committee  Smith, grab a belt and put it between his teeth.” I didn't think that was very good, so I didn't do it; I just cleared the way around him. That was before I had information about what I really should do; fortunately, it wasn't too far from what I really should have done. Could you go into that a little bit?

Health committee  The people with epilepsy working in those companies are affected, but also the people around them, or who spend time in public areas. I think that that is part of the education. This year, we have a little card that gives clear explanations. I have some here. We give them out everywhere. Part of our approach to education is to provide a description of the first aid, of what to do in case of a seizure. It is very simple.

Official Languages committee  A coordinated strategy like the strategy under the Roadmap makes it at least possible to establish some clear key initiatives—there are 32 in the Roadmap—that together reflect a significant part of the federal government's action in terms of official languages. We have an interesting system that enables us to be accountable, through departmental performance reports and reports on plans and priorities, for the money spent by each department every year.

Official Languages committee  With respect to what could follow on the roadmap, it's completely clear that, during our consultations, aside from this one, we listen. When communities talk to us about these matters, we are always there for them. In fact, we are fairly fond of information that can help us provide advice on the follow-up to this program.

Transport committee  So, $20 million needs to be invested per year over five years to ensure that the railway is safe. In fact, there is a clear problem of sustainability. Personally, I am in favour of supporting the people of the Gaspé; however, I wonder if it is really necessary to establish a separate program, specifically to resolve these two issues, meaning the one in Vancouver and the one in the Gaspé.
