Citizenship and Immigration committee  In other words, what work doesn't contribute to the protection of our safety? Is my question clear?

Public Safety committee  We've talked about how they work, under ideal conditions maybe to meet that specification, and under less than ideal conditions they probably don't meet the specification. When you talk about improvements, it would seem clear from what we've heard that some people think these things don't work as well as they might. So improvements might be necessary. Again, that's all very tightly linked into the environment you're trying to operate them in and the operational requirement.

Finance committee  We will make sure you don't spend the money on something you didn't apply for.” It is a very competitive process. You have to be really clear about what you want to achieve and be prepared not to get that grant in the first place.

Bill C-11 committee  In reading the bill, it becomes clear that a number of statements made by witnesses before the committee charged with studying Bill C-32 were not taken into account. As soon as this bill is passed, rights holders will lose $126 million.

Indigenous and Northern Affairs committee  She recognizes that they're doing a fair bit of work just on the treaty aspect, what we're talking about right now. That's their starting point and that's where they want to go. I think they've been clear in terms of feeling the brunt of blaming the victim. It's not a starting point as far as the chief is concerned, in terms of moving forward, in terms of what we're talking about, in terms of the kind of sharing that has to take place in terms of the economic benefits.

Bill C-11 committee  Before we get to our next speaker, I think because we've had so much discussion, if just for clarity Mr. Lake would indulge me one more time and read the motion so that we can have a clear understanding and so that the members can move forward with the discussion from there. Thanks.

Bill C-11 committee  Actually, before I read that, why don't I just quickly read the one before it so everybody is clear on that? There was some crossover there. The one that we passed before was “that the evidence and documentation received by the legislative committee on Bill C-32, An Act to amend the Copyright Act, during the third session of the 40th Parliament be taken into consideration by this committee”.

Citizenship and Immigration committee  For fiscal year 2010-11, we had 227 minors who were detained, of whom 196 were accompanied and 31 were unaccompanied, and the average detention was six days. I want to make it clear that we always consider the interests of the children. We do as much as possible to keep the families together. In the detention centre, men and women are separated and the children are kept with their mothers.

Indigenous and Northern Affairs committee  I think as a result of Kashechewan and a variety of the other activities that occurred around aboriginal drinking water, it became very clear that in a lot of cases the traditional provincial mechanisms were not working, nor were the circuit rider programs, and there was a real need to look at the establishment of a federal program to look at how we could develop that capacity.

Bill C-11 committee  In actuality, the heritage committee has voted to suspend its meetings until after Bill C-11 is done. We're good with respect to 11:00 a.m. times. We're clear.

Indigenous and Northern Affairs committee  First nations in Ontario believe that reaffirming the treaty relationship should be the foundation from which to address the issue of land use and sustainable economic development. First nations in Ontario have already made clear their priorities and recommendations to Canada in their statement read to Prime Minister Harper during the first nations and crown gathering. I will reiterate here some of what our nations told the Prime Minister.

Infrastructure  Mr. Speaker, I clearly heard my colleague, but we also heard loud and clear from the mayor of Trois-Rivières. The mayor addressed every forum in the region—he spoke to the Chamber of Commerce, for example—and said that not only does he want to have a Major Junior Hockey League team in Trois-Rivières, but that he would also like to have an American Hockey League team.

Veterans Affairs  When privacy breaches occur, I expect corrective measures to be put in place according to the most stringent policy. Let me be clear. When the board renders decisions which affect our veterans' lives, fairness and equity are and have to remain the sole criteria.

Veterans Affairs  Any time there is a breach of confidentiality, it is important that our action plan be applied, both here and by the board. What is clear to me is that on this side of the House, we support veterans. What is unacceptable is that the New Democrats have filled 13 pages with votes against veterans. On this side of the House, we will stand up for veterans.

National Defence committee  With the Chinese navy rising, if it is indeed rising, does this mean we shift to the Pacific? Does this mean we invest in more capital forces? It's not clear that this is what we should do. We will need a minimal capability to patrol our own oceans. Since, on the naval side, we don't have a coast guard and a navy.... We use the navy the way countries like the United States would use the coast guard.
