Public Accounts committee  I think we should be very careful about confusing methodological and empirical data challenges for the intention of misleading. I'd just like to be clear on that. I will turn it over to Mr. Ross to talk about the 70% number. Thank you.

Public Accounts committee  On the issue of documentation, and just to expand on that difference of opinion, the Auditor General has a very clear view that we should have on file a robust, very strict, sole-sourced justification. When we carry out an ACAN, we use a market analysis--i.e., those requirements can be discharged by Boeing--and we complement that with the actual ACAN.

Public Accounts committee  I do not want to open a big debate on notices of arbitration on contracts, but we sent a letter to the committee which contains excerpts of policies and rules regulating the awarding of contracts. You will see that all this is very clear. Based on our interpretation, ACAN must provide a justification in their directed contract and it must be in accordance with one of the exemptions, one of the exceptions, to justify having an open contract.

Immigration and Refugee Protection Act  It leaves us in the situation, which we have been in so many other cases, where the legislation in its intent is clear, but the details with regard to the principal persons who would be authorized or who have been, as put here, committing an offence or a contravention of the section are still unknown.

Natural Resources committee  With respect to land, just as an example, if you include Wood Buffalo National Park, as well as the 20% of northeast Alberta for which the Province of Alberta has asked for plans, it will amount to something like 40% of northeast Alberta that is set aside, free and clear of development. I know of not very many jurisdictions in the world that can say that. With respect to....

Natural Resources committee  I want to be clear on the raw exports piece. Energy security is often talked about as affordable and sustainable. The current estimates are that for every 525,000 barrels of raw bitumen that go down a pipeline, we lose somewhere in the neighbourhood of 15,000 upgrading jobs and associated jobs in that industry.

Natural Resources committee  Thank you, Mr. Cullen. Actually, the process is very clear. If any member of the committee requests that a meeting be televised, it will be if we can find an appropriate room. The clerk does his best on every occasion to do that. It's that simple, really.

Transport committee  This amendment certainly fits with the previous amendment but gives more of the particular information that has to be provided by the airline company. It's very clear that this is the information that is provided and how it can be used. Those are the circumstances of this particular amendment.

Industry committee  The discussion here right now is to delay this clause-by-clause until later on in the committee's schedule. That's what we're focusing on at the moment. I hope this clears up that issue.

Transport committee  I'd simply say that if the parliamentary secretary takes a look at NDP-2, the notification for the United States is in that under (1.1), so we have that in the NDP motion and it's clear there. This doesn't actually go toward the motion that we had overturned. That motion was to limit this bill simply to sharing information with the United States. Now, if the parliamentary secretary can explain how his amendment limits this bill to sharing information with the United States, I'll be happy to hear that.

Subcommittee on Neurological Disease committee  So I would suggest that that's a real opportunity for this subcommittee to come forward with a clear recommendation. I agree with what Shannon said in terms of the federal government having a real role in taking leadership on developing a brain strategy and addressing these issues.

Status of Women committee  At the United Nations, that was the accepted language, at CIDA it was the accepted language, and it continued to be the accepted language. I think we need to be very clear what language we're speaking to. The Minister for Status of Women would not be speaking to issues of “impunity” and would not be speaking to issues of CIDA. The minister for CIDA would be speaking to those issues.

Human Resources committee  There are parent networks, and there are parental support groups, which are largely volunteer-run, and we, as the Adoption Council of Canada, do have some resources. We are kind of doing what Dan had suggested should happen. We are a sort of clearing house for information and resources, and we would love to be able to offer more resources such as webinars and seminars, and to host a database, which we're talking about, but we don't have the federal funding or any kind of funding right now to do that.

Government Operations committee  Later in his testimony, he said that when meeting you, you presented yourself as an organizer in the riding of Bourassa, which it's clear to me that you were, and that you said fundraising would be a way of helping to boost Conservative coffers in the province of Quebec. I do the same thing in my area of the country. We raise money so we can win elections.
