Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, what we need to focus on is the Liberals continued consultation, their continued raising of these concerns that do not exist. I have consulted with farmers and ranchers in my riding, the Canadian Cattlemen's Association, the Canadian dairy farmers association, Alberta beef, Alberta dairy, and these groups are in support.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I think my hon. colleague is being a little bit dramatic. This was not funding that said we knew this would have an impact. This was a safety net if anything were to happen, as a transition period as we go from the rules and regulations and the tariffs that are in place now to having those free trade agreements in place.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I am proud to rise in the House today to speak in support of the trans-Pacific partnership. Our former Conservative government was committed to continuing to defend our system of supply management in the trans-Pacific partnership, just as we did in all previous trade agreements.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, the member is a strong voice for agriculture and is one heck of a hockey player. If there is ever a team looking for a player, they should pick him up. The member talked about the importance of the supply management sector. A large part of my riding in southern Alberta is dairy farming, and they are very concerned about the role that supply management will take in the trans-Pacific partnership.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I appreciate the opportunity to ask a question, but, first, I was disappointed to hear the member across the floor take credit for the COOL agreement. We know how much our colleague, the member for Battlefords—Lloydminster, did on that file. It is very disingenuous for him to take credit for that work.

Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 1.  Mr. Speaker, I want to thank my colleague for the hard work he is doing in terms of industry and innovation. In his speech he talked about another program that is being impacted by the budget bill. That is the children's fitness tax credit. I remember when the previous government brought in that tax credit in 2006.

Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 1.  Mr. Speaker, I am really glad to hear that the hon. member praised the Conservative government's financial prudence in getting us through the recession of 2008-2009. If it were not for the prudent financial planning of that government, we may not have been able to come through that as one of the strongest economies in the G7, so I want to thank my colleague for highlighting our good work in the government we had.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, absolutely, one of the top issues that has come up in my riding is protection for health practitioners to make this decision on their own and not have it imposed on them. This goes to the point that I think all of us are trying to make. There are so many issues that still need to be addressed.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, the safest thing to do with this bill would be to make it as tight and as rigid as possible. The Carter decision involved a competent adult suffering with a terminal illness. That is how we should have kept it. I do not think we should now have psychological issues as an underlying factor and a decision to study mature minors.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, it is great to see my colleague back in the House. I appreciate and understand the tight timeline, but the Liberal government had opportunities to ask for another extension. Can we honestly say that we can accomplish what we have been asked to do in just a matter of weeks, when every other jurisdiction has done this over a matter of years?

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I rise today to speak about what I think is one of the most important issues that we will ever face in this Parliament. I know this is going to be a very difficult debate in the House, as physician-assisted suicide and euthanasia are deeply emotional not only to us in the House but obviously to our constituents.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, industry has said that investment in Alberta's oil sands will be down more than $60 billion over the past two years, a 63% decrease since 2014. Hundreds of thousands of Albertans have lost their jobs, and they are losing their homes. The Prime Minister has told Albertans that they should hang in there and they should be thankful that things are not worse.

Employment  Mr. Speaker, shrimp season has just opened in Newfoundland. Today we have heard that the Quinlan Brothers processing plant, which employs about 700 people, has suffered a devastating fire. This disaster will impact not only the community and local plant workers but also the fishermen who land their catch at Bay de Verde.

George Lane  Mr. Speaker, I rise in the House today to honour a great Albertan, George Lane. George Lane was a legendary rancher and, as a member of the Big Four, a founding father of the Calgary Stampede. He was a former owner of the Bar U Ranch, the national historic site in my riding of Foothills.

Public Service Labour Relations Act  Mr. Speaker, my colleague brings up a good point. We are fooling ourselves if we believe that there has never been any influence or coercion, or strong-arming of members of a business or a company when it comes to forming a union. What we really need to focus on is ensuring that the RCMP members do not just have the privilege, but that it is their right to have a democratic secret ballot.
