Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, after eight years, the member for Milton should be able to do a better job than that when answering a question. Newfoundlanders and Labradorians want answers. According to a CTV news report, many will not be able to afford a turkey dinner this Thanksgiving. With vegetables and turkey up around 70% in just eight years, the NDP-Liberal carbon tax is now taking food off tables.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, a recent poll in Newfoundland and Labrador showed that 84% of those surveyed chose the cost of living as the top issue they face. After many conversations with folks in my riding, this comes as no surprise. Most say the inflationary carbon tax is making life unaffordable.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, it is ironic that my hon. colleague across the way referenced his masters. I think it is time for the Liberal government to realize that it is the servant and not the master. If these Atlantic Liberal MPs talked to folks in their ridings as I do, they would not need a poll to tell them how people are feeling.

Baie Verte Peninsula Tragedy  Mr. Speaker, on the morning of this past September 12, Dwayne, Leonard, Brian and Tim left Fleur de Lys harbour for a day of cod fishing, like so many others along the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador that day. Little did they know that three of them would not return alive, including Tim, who is still missing.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, the outgoing member for Kings—Hants, on November 28, 2022, to The Laker News, a local paper, said, “They are trying to play a bit of boogeyman on the federal government in relation to carbon [tax] pricing right now.” That is what he said about Premier Houston's party in Nova Scotia.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, while St. Peter denied Christ three times, the Atlantic Liberal MPs denied the harmful effects of the carbon tax on their constituents 23 times. Based on Canadian averages for carbon emissions per kilometre, my hon. colleague across the way created 75 kilos of carbon emissions this morning when his daddy drove his papers to Ottawa for him.

Questions Passed as Orders for Returns  With regard to the disposal of fish and seafood seized by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) during the 2022 calendar year: (a) what are the DFO's policies related to the disposal of seized fish and seafood; (b) what are the details for each seizure, including, for instance, the (i) manner of disposal, (ii) quantity, (iii) species or type of seafood, (iv) recipient, if applicable; (c) of the items that were disposed of, how much was donated to local food banks or charities and what is the breakdown of the quantity each food bank or charity received; and (d) what are the DFO's policies in relation to DFO staff and agents consuming seized fish or seafood?

Questions on the Order Paper  With regard to the government's decision to remove the images of the Vimy Ridge Memorial and Billy Bishop from the Canadian passport: (a) were any veterans groups or The Vimy Foundation consulted about the removal of the images prior to the unveiling, and, if so, which ones, and what feedback did they provide; and (b) if the answer to (a) is negative, why was the decision made not to consult veterans groups and who made the decision?

Online News Act  Madam Speaker, when a piece of legislation would support certain media giants that are affiliated with and support the narrative the Liberal government is putting forward, and would throw other smaller media to the curb, that would be a form of censorship. That is with respect to one part of the member's question.

Online News Act  Madam Speaker, I do not know how to respond to my hon. colleague's making comments about my hair. Maybe I should have it dyed blond; I do not know. In terms of respect and heading to the Senate, my hon. colleague talked about maturity. I think she might be approaching that stage in life where she has her eye on the other place.

Online News Act  Madam Speaker, I appreciate my fellow fishery committee member's question. She talked about CBC and its independence, or whatever. Her taste in food is much better than her taste in media, because she just told me about how much she liked fried bologna and beans. Her taste in food is a lot better than her taste in media, and I think she should make that a part of her daily routine.

Online News Act  Madam Speaker, I will be splitting my time with the member for Carlton Trail—Eagle Creek. The NDP-Liberal coalition has been as sly as a fox and as slippery as an eel with this piece of legislation known as Bill C-18, the online news act. This is yet another Liberal attempt to control the online content available to the people of Canada.

Fisheries and Oceans  Mr. Speaker, these Liberals have had eight years of blaming everyone and everything for their failures, and they have failed yet again. This time the Liberals have failed to release quotas for northern cod, east coast capelin, mackerel and southwestern Nova Scotia herring on time.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, fuel companies throughout Atlantic Canada have sent letters to their customers telling them that on July 1 propane is going up 12¢ a litre. Gasoline is going up 17¢ a litre, and home heating and diesel are going up 20¢ a litre. Folks in Kentville, Antigonish, Sydney, Saint John, Fredericton, Edmundston, Corner Brook, Clarenville, Conception Bay South, Labrador City, and all over P.E.I. have sent me a copy of that letter.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, what a pile of baloney. Canadians know that all they have done is destroy jobs in Canada. The Prime Minister's childhood friend, who believes the same thing, Premier Furey said that when he asked the federal minister what impact the carbon tax 2 would have. He admitted that it will not be zero.
