The Environment  They want to want to increase taxes for middle-class families, put Canada back into the red and implement a job-killing carbon tax.

The Environment  Building on this, as the minister mentioned, we will be reducing methane emissions from the oil and gas sector, regulating the production of chemicals in nitrogen fertilizers and regulating emissions from natural gas-fired electricity generation. We are going to do that without a job-killing carbon tax.

The Environment  Our government is the first government in Canadian history to achieve a net reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. We will continue to take action to reduce emissions without the job-killing carbon taxes and schemes proposed by the NDP and the Liberals.

The Environment  They want to raise taxes for middle-class families, throw Canada back into a deficit, and pursue job-killing carbon taxes and pricing schemes. Their position is totally irresponsible.

The Environment  The Government of Canada has been very clear that it does not intend to address greenhouse gas emissions through a carbon tax. Our government's record is clear. We have taken decisive action on the environment while protecting our economy. We have already begun to implement our sector-by-sector approach, starting with two of the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions in this country: the transportation and electricity sectors.

The Environment  Like I said, we are working together with everyone involved, without taxing Canadians to death with a carbon tax, which the New Democrats want to do.

The Environment  We are the first government in Canadian history to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while supporting economic growth. We are going to do it without an NDP and Liberal job-killing carbon tax, and we are going to do it without taking unilateral action and imposing taxes and monetary penalties on the oil and gas sector.

The Environment  What is very clear, though, is that the NDP would take unilateral action and put our Canadian companies at a competitive disadvantage. As well, what is very clear is that the opposition would put in a job-killing carbon tax. What is also clear is that it would gamble with 275,000 Canadian jobs. We are not going to do that. We are going to support hard-working Canadian families.

The Environment  He also thanked Canada for its recent contribution to the green climate fund. That is leadership, and that is without a job-killing carbon tax the NDP would like to put in.

The Environment  We have always said we would like to work together with the United States, and we are going to do it without a job-killing carbon tax.

The Environment  As I said earlier, they would take unilateral action to impose taxes and monetary penalties on the oil and gas sector. They would act unilaterally to impose a job-killing carbon tax. They would gamble with 275,000 jobs. We are not going to do that. We are going to support hard-working Canadians because we believe on this side that we are the only party that can be trusted to lower greenhouse gas emissions while growing the economy.

The Environment  Building on these actions, we recently announced that we will be taking action to limit the growth HFCs, which are the most potent and fastest-growing greenhouse gases in the world, and we will do that without putting economic penalties on our oil and gas sector and without a job-killing carbon tax.

The Environment  Mr. Speaker, as I said, what it crazy is a job-killing carbon tax. Our government is the government that is reducing emissions, while supporting economic growth and job creation. We are achieving this without the crazy policies of the NDP. In 2012, greenhouse gas emissions were 5.1% lower than the 2005 levels, while the economy grew by 10.6% during the same period.

The Environment  Speaker, as I have said, the Prime Minister said Canada would not take unilateral action and impose taxes and monetary penalties on the oil and gas sector, but what the opposition has said is it would impose taxes and monetary penalties on the oil and gas sector. The opposition also said it would act unilaterally to impose a job-killing carbon tax. The opposition parties would gamble with 275,000 jobs in Canada. Our government is not going to do that. We are going to support hard-working Canadians, and we are going to do that without the crazy taxes of the NDP.
