Indigenous Affairs  Mr. Speaker, we asked the Liberal government how much it has spent on taking first nations children to court. The Liberals replied that it has spent $5 million. When Cindy Blackstock asked the same question, however, they said it was over $8 million. How much is it? How much is the government spending on taking first nations kids to court?

Indigenous Affairs  Mr. Speaker, in 2017, the Liberals changed the law to end discrimination against indigenous women, but the lack of resources means that it can take up to two years for their status to be recognized. Two years of delay to recognize a woman's status means that gender discrimination continues.

Indigenous Affairs  Mr. Speaker, last year when referring to the RCMP raids on the Wet'suwet'en people, the Prime Minister said it was “not handled the way it should have been.” Now the situation again is very serious. The Prime Minister has a role to play. The chiefs have asked to meet with the Prime Minister, but he has refused.

Points of Order  Mr. Speaker, I rise on a point of order. I believe if you seek it, you will find consent for the following motion: That notwithstanding any standing order or usual practice of the House, Bill C-5, an act to amend the Judges Act and the Criminal Code, be deemed read a second time and referred to a committee of the whole, deemed considered in committee of the whole, deemed reported without amendment, deemed concurred in at report stage and deemed read a third time and passed.

Indigenous Affairs  Mr. Speaker, why do the Liberals continue to fight first nations children in court? It is completely inexplicable. Imagine being a parent whose kids are being denied services by the government, and that the very same government is spending over $8 million fighting those kids in court.

Health  Mr. Speaker, I was in Regina yesterday to support the workers who are fighting for their pensions. Workers across the country are under attack. Instead of helping working people, the Liberal government is proposing a tax cut that is going to help the top 10%. Workers need help now.

Health  Mr. Speaker, there is a difference between saying the right things and doing the right things. The Liberals like to use pretty words. They named a ministry, but they cannot define what the middle class is. They are putting forward a tax cut that most benefits the wealthiest 10%.

Health  Mr. Speaker, people do not need rhetoric, they need concrete action. The Liberals appointed a minister for the middle class but they cannot define what the middle class is. They have proposed a tax cut that will benefit the wealthiest the most. We have a solution: Are the Liberals prepared to target the tax cut so they can implement a dental care program to help those who cannot access dental care?

Health  Mr. Speaker, the Liberal government is still looking for ways to give huge sums of money to rich corporations. Recently, it was Loblaws, and now it is MasterCard, which made $9 billion in a single year. Now the Liberal government is jumping to give this profitable company $50 million of public money while they drag their feet to deliver the health care that Canadians need so they can afford their medication.

Health  Mr. Speaker, we have learned of a recent announcement by the government, but Canadians are deeply concerned about those who are trapped in the region because of the coronavirus. The U.S. and other countries have negotiated an agreement to secure the evacuation of their citizens.

Religious Freedom  Mr. Speaker, three years ago, the Centre culturel islamique de Québec was the site of a tragic crime motivated by Islamophobia. An armed man became so mired in hate that he walked into a mosque, in the middle of peaceful prayers, and killed six men while wounding many others. This tragedy, which became known as the Quebec City mosque massacre, was no accident.

Automotive Industry  Mr. Speaker, in 2016, we learned that Volkswagen vehicles were emitting illegal levels of toxins that were hurting people and the environment, yet the Liberal government did nothing for three years. When it finally decided to act, it gave a foreign company, which makes no contribution to our Canadian workforce, a sweetheart deal and let it off the hook with no criminal charges.

Public Service of Canada  Mr. Speaker, this is a foreign company and no criminal charges were laid. That is unacceptable. Yesterday, the minister bragged about the fact that the government uses outside help for our public services. Giving $12 billion to foreign companies is not a solution. The Liberal government has contributed to the tripling of the outsourcing of public service work.

Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752  Mr. Speaker, I am grateful for the opportunity to rise and speak to honour the victims of the flight 752 tragedy. This has been an unspeakable tragedy for the Iranian Canadian community and a disaster for Canada. It is the kind of tragedy and disaster that will be forever etched in our minds and in the history of this country.

Indigenous Affairs  Mr. Speaker, four years ago first nations kids won a historic victory in the Human Rights Tribunal. The tribunal found that the government discriminated against first nations kids and denied basic health care services. The Liberals are continuing to take these kids to court. The Prime Minister had four years to remedy the situation.
