Tax Harmonization  Mr. Speaker, two weeks ago we learned that the Conservative government will kill the point of sale exemption for first nations. So, when it comes to introducing the HST, some people get the carrot and some get the stick. The province of Ontario is getting a $4 billion carrot and first nations in Ontario are getting the short end of the stick, despite their treaty right to tax exemption.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, again we see there is not much of a difference between how the Liberals and Conservatives manage crises, such as the one we have before us today on H1N1. One just has to remember the delayed response on SARS under the Liberal government. The Liberal colleague from St.

House debate  Mr. Speaker, I stand before you tonight, as have many others, to discuss the serious issue at hand, which is the lack of H1N1 anti-virus. I have to say that many of us have been quite worried as to whether the government had a good handle on the situation at hand. It became evident toward the end of last week that our fears were well founded.

Tax Harmonization  Mr. Speaker, the finance minister and the Conservative government know that the HST is not a provincial issue. Even the minister's wife has written him a letter asking him to stop funding its implementation. The HST will hit Canadians even in their times of sorrow. A $5,000 funeral will cost $400 more.

Tax Harmonization  Mr. Speaker, the government's new sales tax means the home of their dreams will be further out of reach for many families. The Canadian Home Builders Association has said that the HST will add substantially to the cost of a new home. This is discouraging news for Canadian families and for home builders.

Petitions  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to table a petition on behalf of my constituents along the highway 11 corridor. The petition asks the government to ensure moratoriums on post office closures and that these be maintained open. The petition also opposes the legalization of remailers and asks that the proposed legislation be withdrawn.

Harmonized Sales Tax  Mr. Speaker, the economic crisis is not behind us yet and while workers are looking for solutions to help their families, the Conservatives are saying, “Do not forget to pre-arrange your funeral, because after July 1, dying is going to cost you more, thanks to the Conservatives' new tax”.

Bill C-311--Climate Change Accountability Act  Madam Speaker, I appreciated the hon. member's speech. It is true what he said about the Conservatives denying climate change when they were the Reform Party. We also saw them deny the economic crisis. I want to know whether the hon. member agrees that we have to move forward with this motion and vote in favour of it in order to take action on climate change.

Bill C-311--Climate Change Accountability Act  Mr. Speaker, we have heard from the NDP side how important it is to move on climate change and yet we have a government that is not willing to move forward. Consistently the Liberals and the Conservatives have not wanted to move forward on the Kyoto accord. We heard a few minutes ago with regard to the costing of such a bill.
