Canada Early Learning and Child Care Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech. Once again, I thank all my colleagues on the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities for this bill. I have a question for my colleague. We know that this bill does not provide full compensation for Quebec.

Canada Early Learning and Child Care Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. However, he was very critical of the Conservatives. The Liberal government also deserves some criticism for not taking into account the fact that Quebec is a model. On top of that, the contract is for a period of five years. What is the government going to do after that?

Canada Early Learning and Child Care Act  Madam Speaker, I thank the minister for her speech. I also thank my colleagues who participated in the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities. However, it is apparent that our requests were completely disregarded.

National Strategy for Eye Care Act  Madam Speaker, I am pleased to rise to speak to Bill C‑284. As members know, this enactment provides for the development of a national strategy to support the prevention and treatment of eye disease to ensure better health outcomes for Canadians. It also designates the month of February as age-related macular degeneration month.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I have to say that the purpose of this motion is not to increase safe supply. Based on everything we have heard this morning, including some powerful testimony and a mixed bag of speeches that were nonetheless telling, the point is that what we really need is the health transfers.

Nicole Garceau and Michel Pilon  Mr. Speaker, last month, Nicole Garceau and Michel Pilon received the Quebec National Assembly medal to acknowledge their contribution to artistic development in Abitibi-Témiscamingue and their influence outside the region. Mr. Pilon is the manager of a theatre troupe in Val‑d'Or called Cie de la 2e scène, and he has also been a director and actor for 40 years or so.

Privilege  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. Expelling this person who has been declared persona non grata is good news today. It is too little, too late, but at least it is a step in the right direction to avoid Chinese oppression. The member for Wellington—Halton Hills received threats and we had to vote on a motion today because of the government's inertia.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague from Kamloops—Thompson—Cariboo for his clear, accurate and glowing speech. What is happening right now with the Chinese interference is outrageous. The government is not telling us what is going on. The government is not being proactive. What is the government waiting for?

Red Dress Day  Mr. Chair, I thank my colleague from Elgin—Middlesex—London for her touching speech. This evening, we are here for a take-note debate on Red Dress Day out of respect for missing and murdered indigenous women and girls. Let us remember those who are no longer with us. The member talked about colonization, violence and September 30.

Red Dress Day  Mr. Chair, I thank my colleague, the Minister of Northern Affairs, for his speech. Earlier, his colleague spoke about government investments. What is happening with the recommendations from the report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls?

Red Dress Day  Mr. Chair, the matter of missing and murdered women and girls also affects Nunavik. As I mentioned earlier, the suicide and disappearance rates there are high in Nunavik. Very little progress has been made over the past year, and nothing has been done to respond to the report's recommendations.

Red Dress Day  Madam Chair, I thank the member for Nunavut for her speech. Nunavut is a lot like Nunavik in my riding. This evening we are having a take-note debate on Red Dress Day out of respect for indigenous women and girls. They still live in fear. There are still indigenous women and girls going missing and being murdered.

Budget Implementation Act, 2023, No. 1  Mr. Speaker, as my colleague stated, we keep repeating the same thing, but, there is no mention of regional flights in Bill C‑47. Regional flights are out of reach. There has been a considerable increase in the price of fuel, and the price of flights continues to increase. Bill C‑47 would significantly increase the air travel security charge for both international and regional flights.

Autonomous Drill Developed in Abitibi  Mr. Speaker, the first autonomous drill, known as “Versadrill”, has entered the market. The Versadrill was developed in Abitibi and operates 1,300 metres below the surface at Agnico Eagle's Goldex mine in Val-d'Or. The drill is manufactured in our community, at MBI Global, a company that has been doing business in Val-d'Or for 30 years.

Committees of the House  Madam Speaker, despite the size and intent of Bill C‑47, there is nothing in it for seniors or housing. There is no long-term solution to fix the underfunding of health care and no sign of EI reform. I would like to hear my colleague's thoughts on that.
