Thank you for the invitation to speak about Canada’s Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Regime in the context of the parliamentary review of the Proceeds of Crime and Terrorist Financing Act. I would like to start my remarks by briefly outlining the state of money laundering and terrorist financing in Canada and explaining why it is important to address these serious financial crimes.
