Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply Madam Speaker, I would like to bring up another thought that I have in terms of the throne speech. In 2015, I was working at an NGO in the international development sector, and I was delighted when the Prime Minister said that Canada was back. What I did not realize at the time was that Canada was back, way back, in the list of OECD donor countries.

Telecommunications Mr. Speaker, it is becoming more expensive for average Canadians to pay their bills. Costs are going up across the country, and in Alberta in particular, families are struggling. Car insurance rates have gotten more expensive, electricity bills are higher and just this week parents are learning that they will have to pay out of their own pockets for their kids to ride the school bus.

The Economy Mr. Speaker, I am a very proud Albertan and my family has been among the proud workers who have helped build our province and our country for generations. Now these same workers are struggling, but the government is not listening. The government needs to commit to working with Albertans to diversify our economy and to help create new jobs.

Address in Reply Mr. Speaker, it is an honour to stand in the House for the first time and represent the constituents of Edmonton Strathcona, who were kind enough to trust me to represent them. Students in Alberta are really suffering. The cost of university and college is skyrocketing and young people are unable to pay for their education.
