Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, the members of the current government have again gone on and talked about open and transparent ways and said that they are going to consult with Canadians. The members of the Conservative Party believe that we must have true consultation with Canadians, and that Canadians need to be part of the process.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, there was no question there. I want to stand and apologize to my colleague. I was not pointing fingers at him. I was merely saying that in 14 years, “we” have not been able to modulate our volume when he gets up because of his passion. I commend him for his passion.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I find the question humorous, coming across the way from a government that has campaigned on open and transparent ways and how it was going to change the way that Canadian government is being seen. All it has done is put Canada back in the Dark Ages. He talked about the EU agreement and the 28 countries.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, the hon. member for Windsor West has been in the House for 14 years and we cannot figure out how to modulate his volume when he gives speeches. He is very loud, but very passionate. Canada is a trading nation and from our earliest days we have focused on trade. Whether it was the indigenous peoples trading furs and fish with some of the earliest explorers to the forming of the company of adventurers of England trading, which we now know as the Hudson's Bay Company, Canada has always been a trading nation.

Multiple Sclerosis  Mr. Speaker, I rise to speak about a real life hero and his family. His name is Tim Michalchuk, a determined, spirited, and unwavering individual. Tim's partner, Shannon, was diagnosed with MS over five years ago and recently suffered a relapse. To help raise awareness and to save Shannon, Tim set out on foot from Prince George on April 2 to walk a million steps to stop MS.

Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 1.  Mr. Speaker, we have heard a number of comments from the government on promises it is keeping, on openness and transparency. My hon. colleague expressed his dismay with some of the language we are hearing. Very similar to this debate, not a week ago debate was limited on something that was probably the most transformative and important piece of legislation that the government and this sitting will ever see, physician-assisted dying.

Budget Implementation Act, 2016, No. 1.  Mr. Speaker, there is a reason why my hon. colleague across the floor does not want to answer that and wants to focus on the seniors. Again, he did not answer my hon. colleague about the agriculture. Another string of broken promises is what we are seeing with the Liberal government.

Cancer  Mr. Speaker, cancer has touched all of us at some point in our lives. Over the past few months of 2016, our family has lost a cousin and an uncle. This weekend in Prince George, I will take part in our annual Canadian Cancer Society 24-hour relay for life, raising funds for cancer research and vital support services for those fighting cancer and their families.

Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act  Mr. Speaker, obviously this is an issue that our hon. colleague from Coquitlam—Port Coquitlam feels strongly about and I stand with him. I rise in the House today to speak on behalf of private member's Bill C-224, the good Samaritan drug overdose act. The hard truth is this. If a friend or a loved one suffered a heart attack, none of us in the House would think twice about calling an ambulance.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I sat through all of the debate into the wee hours of the morning waiting for my chance to speak. We are talking about life and death. This could be the single most important decision we make as a Parliament perhaps in decades preceding us and decades moving forward.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, this is more of a comment than anything else. I want to thank our hon. colleague from Calgary Confederation for stepping forward today and sharing with us in this discussion. The emotions are obviously very raw, and I want to thank our hon. colleague for his comments tonight.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I would say that my hon. colleague from Sherbrooke absolutely got it right. Over a year ago the Supreme Court rendered a decision and our Conservative government felt it was necessary that we took the time to get it right for Canadians. The gravity of the bill is such that we need to make sure we get it right.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I want to congratulate my hon. colleague on his first private member's bill. Perhaps the member mentioned this in his speech and I missed it. Could he tell us of other jurisdictions that are using this device? Have there been any constitutional or charter challenges on the use of it with a police agency wherever this new technology is being used?

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, I want to thank my hon. colleague. Having lost a brother early on to drinking and driving, this is obviously something that hits home for me. I have tabled a few private member's bills, going through the process and crafting the legislation, and also dealing with stakeholders.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, we have heard talk on the government side about how important this debate and discussion is, and that it has done what it has done on other issues. It pointed fingers at the government of the past saying that it did not get anything done and that this is really important, yet earlier today we saw the current government try to force closure on this debate.
