Job Losses in the Energy Sector  Mr. Speaker, the member beside me has talked extensively about the need to diversify the economy. I would argue that the Alberta economy is one of the most diverse economies in the country, just due to the luxury of having immense amounts of capital that have flown into our province.

Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, to that exact point, I was up earlier asking the member about the TPP. The Liberals have been fairly clear that they are not supporting TPP because the Americans are not supporting it. Yet, on this deal, they are saying that it is totally fine that Britain may be pulling out of it at some time in the future.

Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, in my riding in northern Alberta, there are a number of key industries. The forestry industry is a major player, the agriculture sector is a huge employer, and the oil and gas sector is the number one employer. They very much value the increased market access that comes with CETA.

Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, at the beginning of his speech, the member asked where all the jobs are that the previous Conservative government promised when it dealt with free trade. I am proud to be part of the party that managed to sign 42 free trade agreements around the world when it was in government.

Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, the hon. member mentioned positive aspects of CETA, and I would agree with most of them. I am just wondering what the member's thoughts are in terms of the TPP and how we are moving forward on that, if we are going to move forward on that?

The Environment  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased that they are taking real, concrete action. One of the real, concrete actions I would appreciate is a meeting between the minister and stakeholders from my riding. We have been advocating for this for quite a while. I would really like to see this. Twenty thousand people in my riding are directly involved in the forestry industry.

The Environment  Mr. Speaker, I rise this evening to question the Minister of Environment to get a clear answer on my question from my December 2, 2016 exchange. I like to call my riding “the promised land”. It is a land flowing with milk and honey to some degree. It is also a land filled with promise.

Justice  Mr. Speaker, I understand that the government wants to take sex trafficking and the exploitation of women and youth in prostitution seriously. I would seriously encourage it to start with Backpage.com. If Backpage.com was the key location for child pornography to be advertised and sold, and it was making significant revenue from it, would the government be defending these ads as an important tool for police?

Justice  Mr. Speaker, I first raised this issue on June 6 in a statement that highlighted that between 2013 and 2016, the Toronto police investigated 359 cases of sex trafficking, and in each of these cases every single girl was advertised on backpage.com. This is a reality in other cities across Canada, as well.
