Canada Revenue Agency  We learned last weekend that billions of dollars in public funds through the wage subsidy that should have gone to protecting jobs and workers, instead went to dividend payments, stock buybacks and big executive bonuses. The Liberals have gone after regular Canadians, the victims of CERB fraud, demanding the victims pay for the criminals. It is shameful. Will the Liberals make the ultrarich, those companies and CEOs who misused these funds, pay the money back?

Budget Implementation Act, 2021, No. 1  When inflation takes place, generally the only people who benefit are those who are wealthier and who own assets. Regular Canadians, especially those who are middle- and lower-income, are those who most often face the most significant consequences from inflation. Does the member opposite share those concerns about the circumstances that would see growth in the inflation rate in our country?

Industry committee  I also ask the members to submit to the clerk as soon as possible your requested witnesses for the next study. I wanted to also mention this. It came up during the presentations today that regular Canadians cannot participate in committee. I want to debunk that. Canadians are more than welcome to submit to the clerk of the committee briefs, suggestions and so on. I urge people who are interested in the topics that they are hearing about at standing committees of the House of Commons to get involved.

Finance committee  I made many a bank presentation in my time and, as you pointed out, was always required to present a clearly articulated plan on how the farm was going to spend those borrowed dollars. Without a budget and a plan, no regular Canadian is able to borrow a dime. This government just seems so out of touch that it doesn't think those rules apply to it, and honestly, I have a tremendously hard time voting for Bill C-14 as is.

Public Safety  The Liberal government claims to, but its actions show that it would rather criminalize regular Canadians than get tough on real criminals. Right now, it is moving to confiscate legally purchased guns from responsible hunters and sport shooters, while just a few weeks ago it voted against increasing sentences for criminals with smuggled guns.

National Defence committee  I understand that the chief of the defence staff is a Governor in Council appointment. In other words, it's not a regular Canadian Armed Forces promotion. It's my understanding that the minister can't appoint or remove a chief of the defence staff. What can you tell us about the selection process of a prospective chief of the defence staff?

Canada-United Kingdom Trade Continuity Agreement Implementation Act  When we see these eleventh hour deals brought forward, it brings a level of uncertainty. Although many may suggest that it does not have an impact on the ground for regular Canadians, it has a significant impact. Jobs are impacted each and every day by the certainty of ensuring that investment has a clear path. When companies or entities are looking to invest in jurisdictions, they want that certainty.

Fall Economic Statement  When we look at the fine print of this document, we see that once we get past the spring, the government intends to dramatically decrease the number of supports that are going to regular Canadians. This should give everybody pause, because it is exactly what happened when Paul Martin was finance minister and we saw cuts to the national housing program, which was eradicated for a generation.

COVID-19 Emergency Response  These companies do not have to pay back a cent. However, it is a different story for regular Canadians who applied in good faith for emergency benefits, such as artists and the self-employed. They are being told to pay back thousands of dollars. Once again, the Liberals are putting big business profits ahead of everyday people.

Broadcasting Act  However, the government calls the bill a matter of fairness. Michael Geist is not one of those regular Canadians who the elitist government looks down upon. He is a Canadian academic. In fact, he is the Canada research chair in Internet and e-commerce law at the University of Ottawa and a member of the Centre for Law, Technology and Society.

Environment committee  Even a $45,000 vehicle, I would suggest—never mind a $55,000 vehicle—would be considered a luxury vehicle by most Canadians, and I think it's a fair question to ask whether regular Canadian taxpayers should be subsidizing the purchase of luxury vehicles for people who are fully prepared to pay full price for them. I would suggest that the answer is no, and for that reason our organization believes this program should be scrapped or, at the very least, revised.

Digital Charter Implementation Act, 2020  It seems like a really great thing, but I cannot think of too many situations in which a regular Canadian would be the person initiating that conversation. However, I can see where a bank would, for example, when dealing with its insurance arm. Many large Canadian banks also have insurance companies.

Taxation  Why is it with the Liberals that banks and billionaires always come before Canadians? Why is the message to regular Canadians always, “Fuddle duddle you”?

Income Tax Act  Madam Speaker, the member for Hamilton Centre is one of a number of key members of Parliament who have been standing up for regular Canadians throughout the course of this pandemic, and he has been doing a very strong, eloquent job standing up for regular people. They cannot be forgotten. The member asks a very important question.
