Budget Implementation Act, 2018, No. 1  Mr. Speaker, I appreciate the opportunity to ask a question. During the election campaign in 2015, the Liberals promised to be squeaky clean and as pure as the driven snow in terms of transparency. Here is the reality today. With respect to free votes, they promised to make it the norm in the House—false.

Public Safety  Mr. Speaker, the G7 is just around the corner and despite the crowds in La Malbaie and the Prime Minister's smiles, people are worried. Local residents did not choose to be within the perimeter of the facilities and they already know that they will be denied any compensation from the government if they are victims of vandalism during the summit.

Federal Sustainable Development Act  Madam Speaker, I am very pleased to rise to speak to Bill C-57. We are going to support this bill, but there are a lot of “buts”. Let me explain. I have to say that what the Prime Minister did today with the Trans Mountain pipeline really bothered me. He is alienating all of the provinces.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, the minister says she spoke to the provincial representatives. That is good, but did she listen to them? We know there are delays everywhere, especially in Quebec. If she wants us to debate this bill, then let's debate it. Will she accept amendments from other parties in the House?

Extension of Sitting Hours  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for that magnificent speech. Here is an excerpt from the Liberals' 2015 platform on prorogation and omnibus bills: We will not resort to legislative tricks to avoid scrutiny. That is funnier now than ever. I have reread that sentence several times since the Liberals were elected because I am interested and to see how that has played out, seeing as today's Prime Minister of Canada promised us he would be more transparent and cooler.

Extension of Sitting Hours  Mr. Speaker, with all due respect to my colleague, I would like her to elaborate. We have had many opportunities to ask for more debate and have always been turned down. Today, she is asking us to take part in debates, and we will take part in them because on this side of the House, the opposition side, we like to have our say on behalf of our constituents.

Justice  Mr. Speaker, this is national Victims and Survivors of Crime Week. This year's theme is “Transforming the Culture Together”. Let me point out that the ombudsperson for victims of crime position has been vacant for over seven months. The government did, however, fill the correctional investigator position on January 2, so maybe it does not think victims need the help.

Democratic Reform  Mr. Speaker, in their arrogance, the Liberals are trying to impose their electoral reform on Canadians before Parliament votes on the bill. That is completely unacceptable. The Prime Minister decided to cut the process short by skipping the democratic vote on the new bill by all members from all parties in the House, even though that is their responsibility and right as elected officials.

Federal Sustainable Development Act  That is just about the only commitment you will be able to deliver on, that and pot. It is very interesting.

Government Spending  Mr. Speaker, the G7 summit will be held in La Malbaie, in my riding, in June. It is quickly approaching and people have many questions and want answers, especially about the significant costs associated with this event. For several weeks now, major transformations have overshadowed the natural beauty of the region and inevitably resulted in significant expenses.

Democratic Reform  Mr. Speaker, Canada's election laws have always worked well, but now, just 18 months before the next election, the Liberals continue to look for trouble and have decided to create mass confusion among voters. Across the country, Canadians must show at least one piece of official ID to vote, and this applies to everyone, no exceptions.

Rail Transportation  Madam Speaker, what hypocrisy. That is the only word that comes to mind. It is pure, unadulterated hypocrisy. Even the ministers said that things had gone too far. We did not make that up. It was in all the papers. The Liberals failed to tell it like it is. The government claims to respect rights and freedoms when granting funds, but that is completely false.
