Industry committee  That's perfect. Thank you. To the AI guys, I want to start by saying that I understand the need to stay competitive and for Canada to be a leader in this domain, which all three of you very clearly stated in your testimony. Do companies profit from the abstractions or the predictions that AI produces?

Industry committee  Thank you very much. Thank you to each of the witnesses. I will direct my first set of questions to Mr. Hilchie. What is the current cost to you related to piracy within the gaming industry? Do you have any idea?

Industry committee  That's okay. We know this is a growing industry. We have some students here from Algonquin College and I have students in my riding at UOIT who are part of a growing set of students going into gaming. I told them I'd give them a shout-out. I'm just wondering if I could have a better understanding of the impacts of continued piracy, especially when you look at gaming being used for things like health care or other industries that are not particularly just somebody in their home in front of a computer playing a game.

Industry committee  Last week we had some other ISPs here with us. I understand that you're not vertically integrated like some of your counterparts, such as Rogers and Bell. One main argument made by the opponents of the safe harbours provision in the act is to challenge the dumb pipe theory. Can you describe the extent to which the ISPs can identify content in the data they transmit?

Industry committee  Thank you. I'm sorry, Mr. Chair. I'm going to split my time with Mr. Lametti. One of the main arguments made by opponents to the safe harbours in the act is a challenge to the “dumb pipe” theory. Can you describe the extent to which ISPs can identify the content of data they transmit?

Industry committee  Thank you. Thank you to the witnesses who are here today. Mr. Watt, you indicated that you've watched the rise in streaming of stolen content with deep concern. The remedies under the act, you mentioned, are insufficient. You provided some recommendations for amendments. My question is, in addition to amendments to the act, what new tools and technology are available to help with dispelling your concerns about streaming.
