Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I am glad to hear that there is some discussion happening on how we can work together. I believe strongly that is how to solve issues like this, by putting all of the ideas on the table. There is one thing I would like to talk a bit more about. I mentioned in my speech that if we cannot measure it, we cannot manage it.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I am honoured to rise today in support of the motion put forward by my colleague, the member for Calgary Nose Hill. She has been a relentless advocate for the rights of women and girls, especially on behalf of the Yazidi girls in Syria and Iraq. I also want to note that I will be splitting my time with the member for Calgary Shepard.

Salaries Act  Mr. Speaker, the parliamentary secretary to the government House leader stated that all ministers are now being paid at the same level, but the bill has not been passed in Parliament. On what authority are those increases being paid, and what does that say about the government's respect for the law in Parliament?

Justice  Mr. Speaker, child and adult victims of sex trafficking are being sold daily on Backpage.com. In June, I raised this horrific issue in this chamber and wrote directly to the justice minister, with no response. Yesterday, the CEO of Backpage was arrested in the U.S. on sex trafficking charges.

Forestry Industry  Mr. Speaker, 60% of the surfaces in this historic chamber are made out of wood from Canada's forests. From our books to our homes to the very air we breathe, Canada's forests are an important renewable resource for everyone. Canada's forestry workers are firmly rooted in our economy, generating $21 billion from 400,000 jobs throughout rural Canada.

Regional Development  Mr. Speaker, the Liberals have quietly introduced a bill that lays the groundwork for them to expand the size of their tax-and-spend government. Bill C-24 is asking us to approve the future employment of three mystery cabinet ministers, but worse yet, Bill C-24 would eliminate all regional development ministers.

An Act to establish the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians  Madam Speaker, I wonder if my colleague could talk a little more about accountability. From my perspective, bringing in this new committee is really smoke and mirrors. It seems we are going to have this committee and the ministers will be less accountable because they will be able to point to the committee and say, “I am doing a great job because, see, the committee is not doing anything”.

CANADA LABOUR CODE  Madam Speaker, my colleague mentioned that three parties are interested in this bill: the workers, the employers, and the Canadian public. Most of the quotes the member cited seemed to come from employers' groups or workers' groups or union organizers. Could the member speak to what the general Canadian public's perceptions are of this law and what it saw needing to be rapidly removed by these bills?
