Fisheries and Oceans  Will the government make sure that a risk assessment is done before the closure? Will it protect communications coverage in B.C. in case of a seismic event? I am proud to have met the members of the Coast Guard; I know the excellent work they do day and night.

Manufacturing Industry  When will the Liberal government give manufacturers a break, rather than break manufacturers?

Government Operations committee  There are a couple of things on this, David. I was joking a little bit with Mr. Blaney, but I don't want us to get into.... I've sat on committees that get too partisan and it's not a lot of fun. On this, if you take a look at the “Fiscal Monitor” it's a picture in time of one month, one quarter, what have you, and it's like saying you check your bank account one day and you have $10,000 in it but you haven't paid your mortgage, you haven't paid your car payment.

Government Operations committee  I think Mr. Blaney worked at Public Works, my old department, a long time ago. First of all, I want to broadly address the issue of Transport Canada's operating budget. We're working closely with Minister Garneau on this, and he will respond to specific questions related to Transport.

Justice  Madam Speaker, first of all, I thank the hon. member opposite for opportunity to clarify some of the issues she raises. With respect to her initial question concerning the Federal Court decision on the Allard matter, what I subsequently answered, and, frankly, I should have done much better job at and answered the member more directly, was that this is a very complicated decision.

Canada's Contribution to the Effort to Combat ISIL  Mr. Speaker, I will be splitting my time with the member for Don Valley East. I am proud to rise in the House today to endorse a motion that supports the government's decision to broaden, improve, and redefine Canada's contribution to the effort to combat ISIL. This decision will help better leverage Canadian expertise and complement the work of our coalition partners to ensure maximum effect.

Citizenship Act  Madam Speaker, it is my pleasure to split my time with the hon. member for Fredericton, and to be here to speak in favour of Bill C-6. I would like to acknowledge our presence on this traditional territory of the Algonquin peoples. Indeed, had it not been for all the ways that settlers like me and the hon. member's father and great-grandfather were welcomed onto this land, we would not have succeeded individually or collectively.

Citizenship Act  Speaker, I would remind the member that during the campaign the Prime Minister made a commitment to the Chinese community, particularly through the Chinese media, that if the Liberals formed government he would repeal Bill C-24 in its entirety. If we use that as a barometer to what is happening right now with Bill C-6, it actually falls short. That being said, I do support the measures brought forward under Bill C-6 for the most part.

Agriculture committee  Thank you, Francis. We talk a lot about border control, and we know that this role has to be performed by the federal government. As for cheese manufacturing, does it come under government control or does industry decide what products make it in when it comes to yogourt or cheese?

Transport committee  It's a good question. If we are talking about people, then we are talking about the borders or flying across, and to a much lesser extent about ships. A lot of people fly to the United States on a daily basis, back and forth, so pre-clearance, which is something that was started under the previous government in discussions with the United States, is an ongoing issue.

Agriculture committee  Mr. Chair, I'll be splitting my time with Mr. Drouin, if that's okay. That's fantastic work, and thank you so much for getting all of this together. You've done this before, but it's good to get the current state of what you're thinking. You mentioned four ministers and there's a fifth if you include innovation.

Agriculture committee  I was very fortunate to tour a processing plant in my riding last week, and I saw the innovations they were working on. There were some things around membrane filtration and some of the larger capital problems that need to be solved as well to become technology. We don't want to miss out on opportunities when we look at innovation funds.

Official Languages committee  Thank you, Mr. Chair. Sylviane and Suzanne, thank you kindly for your presentation. Suzanne, I see you more in Ottawa than I do in St. Boniface. It's always a pleasure to see you. I'd like to talk dollars. You said that you represent 22 organizations and that the FCFA receives government funding.

Transport committee  Assuming Air Canada's letter of intent leads to orders at the end of the two-year negotiating window, planes are scheduled to be delivered beginning in early 2020, after deliveries of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft are completed and assuming no delays take place during production. I should also note that the Quebec government has already acquired a 49% share of the C Series program for $1 billion. If it is the intention, as you signalled today, of this Liberal government to purchase the remaining portion of this program, are you concerned with the implications of having effectively nationalized Bombardier and the C Series?

Canada's Contribution to the Effort to Combat ISIL  Mr. Speaker, I have been following the debate very closely, in particular the divergence in points of view on all sides of the House. I want to commend my colleagues here on all sides who have elevated the debate and who are keeping front and centre in their minds that we are really here speaking on behalf of 35 million Canadians, and that we have a special and perhaps even higher obligation, to make sure that we keep in mind we are also here because there are lives at stake: members of our Canadian Forces who are dedicated, members of our diplomatic corps, members of our international humanitarian assistance organizations and departments.
