Committees of the House  Madam Speaker, in this place we often talk about firsts, but we do not always get to talk about lasts. As the person who was the last seatmate of the Hon. Jim Carr in the House of Commons, I share my condolences with his family and with all of his team members. I want them to know that he adored them, and because they adored him, I want them to be assured that I adore them, and I will do whatever I can to ensure we get through this challenging time.

Employment Insurance Act  Mr. Speaker, I will start by thanking the member for Lévis—Lotbinière for his work on Bill C-215. As the member of Parliament for the riding of Waterloo, I hear from many constituents when it comes to programs within our country, including unemployment insurance. It is a program that has been there to support workers when they are recovering from illness or injury, and it is important that they feel confident that they are supported.

Department of Public Works and Government Services Act  Madam Speaker, I really do appreciate the member's insights as to the materials we are using when it comes to building. I know that constituents in the riding of Waterloo are really concerned about the way we are building, what we are building with and with the environment. I would like to hear from the member on the benefits for the forestry sector.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2022  Madam Speaker, I listened to the member's comments and really appreciated the range of topics he was able to cover. I hear him on the fact that we have a lot more work to do, and I am committed to doing that work. We have heard from the Conservatives time and time again today about Canada student loans and interest, and that students should be paying their fair share and paying interest on student loans.

Government Business No. 22  Madam Speaker, I guess I will thank the member for his speech, because I am sure he was up all night writing it word for word, and he delivered it with such conviction. I was listening attentively and trying to understand if he was in support of this motion or against it, because part of his comments actually do justify the need for more time to debate, and then I listened to some of his comments in regard to committee.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2022  Mr. Speaker, the riding of Waterloo includes two universities and a college, so there are numerous students. I remember when I graduated from the University of Waterloo, I had Canada student loans and Canada student grants. After I graduated, I had six months to pay them back, but interest started to accumulate the day after I graduated.
