Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I would first like to thank the hon. member for his service. I have many friends who currently serve. I lost a former schoolmate of mine in Afghanistan. I am also the son of a retired service officer. I think everyone in the House agrees that the men and women of our Canadian Armed Forces do an outstanding job every time they are called into action.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Mr. Speaker, I would like to congratulate the member for Brampton East for a very impassioned speech in this House. When we bring our personal stories here, it brings to light the reasons for why we are here. I would also like to share that I had the honour of working as a constituency assistant for the former member of Nanaimo—Cowichan, Jean Crowder, who was a colleague to many in this House.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Mr. Speaker, I would like to congratulate the member for Calgary Rocky Ridge on his impassioned speech. I was struck by his defence of our current voting system, the first past the post. I would like to just start out by pointing out that most members in this hon. House were elected on a platform of bringing in some form of electoral change.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Madam Speaker, it is an honour to stand here on behalf of the residents of Cowichan—Malahat—Langford. I am glad to hear the member for Oakville pledge some strong support for manufacturing. There is another sector of manufacturing that also needs some dire help out on B.C.'s coast, which is the manufacturing in the wood sector.
