Random Acts Of Kindness  Mr. Speaker, did you know that today is the last day for random acts of kindness week? Ten years ago author Anne Herbert scribbled a phrase on her paper placemat: "Practise random kindness and acts of senseless beauty". Since then her message has become the slogan for people who believe in their ability to make the world a better place.

Indian Affairs  Mr. Speaker, as is shown in the report, the issue is extraordinarily complex. It crosses a lot of boundaries. There are spiritual issues, housing issues, economic development issues and social issues. Issues that have gone on for a long time cannot be dealt with in one day. We want to do the right things.

Violence Against Women  Mr. Speaker, today many men and women across the land are wearing white ribbons to remind us that five years ago on this day 40 young women were tragically gunned down by a man at Montreal's l'École polytechnique, simply because they were women. Sadly today little has changed. Women around the world still live in fear of violence by the hands of men they know and of men they do not know.

Native Peoples  Mr. Speaker, the hon. member has brought forward a question that is of great concern to public health and to the Ministry of Health. We have been spending a million dollars a year so far to curb tuberculosis in aboriginal communities. We have now added $2.8 million extra per year over the next three years to try to eradicate tuberculosis so that by the year 2000 there will only be 20 per 100,000 affected and by the year 2010 we will have eradicated it completely.

Reproductive Technologies  Mr. Speaker, the Minister of Health and the Ministry of Health have been working on the response to the royal commission for quite a while. As the hon. member knows, the royal commission created far more controversy than it answered questions. We need to look at how we can deal with provinces and with special groups, to look at how we can set guidelines for recommendations and to follow the recommendations.
