Leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada  It is written in black and white in their election platform, and the NDP leader actually promised to go beyond the NDP's carbon tax scheme to win the party's leadership. Last March he also clearly stated that of course he had a cap-and-trade program that would produce billions. Canadians can count on our government to lower taxes so they can keep more of their hard-earned dollars in their pockets.

New Democratic Party of Canada  That is exactly what our government has been communicating to Canadians, a point that the NDP would rather Canadians not know. The consequences of a new NDP carbon tax scheme would including stifling job growth, straining small and large businesses and literally raising the price of everything. Of course, the NDP members did not mention this when they proposed this carbon tax plan in their 2011 platform.

New Democratic Party of Canada  At least then it would be accurate. It is located right on page 4 in the same platform in black and white, an NDP carbon tax scheme that would raise the price of all things Canadian families need, such as groceries, gas, electricity and heat. In effect, this NDP tax gets tough on Canadian families, not giving them a break as the opposition would have Canadians believe.

The Environment  Speaker, as winter approaches and temperatures begin to drop, Canadians in my riding up north and across the country are thankful that they are not subject to the NDP's massive carbon tax. The NDP's carbon tax scheme would drastically raise the price of electricity, causing families to use more of their hard-earned money to heat their homes. The NDP's regressive $21 billion carbon tax is reckless and unfair to hard-working families that simply want to keep their homes warm and comfortable during the fall and winter months.

Carbon Tax  This month, as retail sales in Canada rise, it becomes even clearer just how risky the NDP's carbon tax scheme would be, stalling our economy in its tracks, raising prices and wiping out these positive economic numbers. At a time when Canada's economy continues to recover from the downturn, the last thing we need is a $20 billion NDP carbon tax that would kill jobs and stop economic growth in its tracks.

The Environment  The NDP want a carbon tax, a tax that would raise the price on everything, including gas, electricity and groceries. It is clear to me that Canadians do not want any part of the NDP's carbon tax scheme, and who can blame them? Our government will continue with its low tax plan for jobs and growth.
